Not sure, but did our present manager not mention the term in one of his early interviews?

I have never seen the reference “Little Old Barrow” as disparaging.
I would like to think it harks back to how we grew from a little Hamlet to a thriving industrial town after the railway infrastructure was built and the now Royal Port that followed. The local iron ore deposits helped with the building of the biggest steelworks in the world at the time and a shipbuilding heritage to match using workers from all over our good lands.
Many industries perished along the way also and the townsfolk not just from Barrow but the outlying areas have come and gone as a consequence along the way too.
We suffered major losses to the area as one closed and another knocked 10,000 off its workforce in double quick time and we shrank as a town and local community again. Many moved away to find work and stayed away.
We like the town have and will keep on reinventing ourselves as the years progress.

For the times they are a-changin'

We may be Little Old Barrow in many’s eyes including mine at times, But Underestimate Us At Your Peril is I’m sure what most from round here mean when they coin the phrase, as a positive rather than a negative.

In that sense the way we set up is not to get beat hence many one goal in it games.

Excitement is generated by attacking hence the reason league two is so boring.

I’m afraid unless we get much needed investment we can all expect much of the same having said that a boring One nil to the Barrow and survival will do for me. :scarf:
And we were a small fish in a big pool in the national league but Ian Evatt wouldn’t allow that kind of mentality and hence we did well. We seem to have slipped back to that kind of victim little old Barrow we have to borrow our balls we are so poor mentality that leads down one path relegation

We couldn’t have done what Grimsby did last night even with the same line up we set up so negatively then end up losing anyway. It’s a straightforward game
How were we a small fish in the national league under Evatt?
Harrogate, Chorley, Boreham Wood, Solihull, Dover and Ebbsfleet were all in the same division vision.
What is it about these clubs that makes us a small fish?

Need to drop the " little old Barrow" and have a go at teams rather than ( in particular away from home) play damage limitation football.
We have the players to cause damage so use them properly.
Look at Leicester for example, nobody thought in a million years they would win the premier league and they didn't have big budget players, high profile names etc etc.. they won cos they wanted to, they had desire and worked hard together as a group.

So yeh, i totally agree..
Cherrypicked that one out.

Leicester have also had many seasons where they haven’t won The Premier League

Correct. They've only won it once.

Fact is they won it despite being little ol' Leicester and they did it not because they had a mega budget, not because every other team rolled over and let them, they did it through desire and belief!

We are not here to make up the numbers, we are here to compete surely?
A change of thought has to happen, a belief that despite our budget, location or whatever that we are indeed good enough because on the day, anyone can beat anyone.
We do actually have some decent players, we can compete with the best of them but it's down to AW to instill that mentality, probably like IE, RW, D&D all did..
Lok at the season we were pretty much relegation fodder and went on that amazing run to reach playoff final at button, we didn't do that cos we spent and bought success, we did that through desire.

I think we all have to shake that shitty low budget, little ol' barrow mentality and start believing in what we can achieve rather than what we can't!
