Interesting view. There is clearly a lot of money swilling around non league football now but I believe that the club would have been sustainable albeit at a lower level to what we were used to.

I would’ve still voted for the takeover Lee. I think (when pushed) TK said there wasn’t much else on the horizon so HE would’ve voted yes in the members position.
That won’t be word perfect but it was along them lines mate.
It was common knowledge the Keens were pulling out and no one else had made any inquiries about the club other than Paul, surely that would’ve been the time for interested parties to have come forward...whether fan, consortium or single owner led.
We can’t have been far off going under, hard to even see how anything could’ve been arranged to go forward even into the next season.

So we are basically at a crossroads now, facing the same situation that we were before the takeover? A drop down a league or two might not be so bad if it preserves the future of the club.

From a financial pov, surely a merger with the raiders has to be seriously considered? Income pretty much all year round, shared cost on maintaining the pitch and stadium, financial stability through a sale of one or both grounds for development?

What does that even mean?

We spend a lot more than we take in, so if we want to maintain this level we need someone to just pile money in continuously, then you have the risk of people walking away at any moment, like is happening now.

If you want financial stability and assured longevity, then you need to cut the wage budget and accept you're going to be in a scrap to stay in this division, and most likely wouldn't be challenging every year in the division below.

It's not wanting to get relegated, it's just a realistic view based on current finances.

That's obviously not enough to cover their costs as they've only just survived going bankrupt plus the costs of a National League
football team is much higher than a part-time Championship rugby team.

i think you might find that £100,000 also includes the build a win lottery takings, which believe it or not is the envy of many northwest clubs be it rugby or football.

its true though all income helps maybe the rugby would have folded without its regular weekly cash injection.

what gets my goat is the fact that we don't even seem to pick up tips or ideas from other clubs in our league for instance Bromley away ticket sales online their Eventbrite page also advertised their corporate hospitality, dover were selling branded dressing gowns just the thing for shopping in tescos on a Tuesday afternoon!

prior to this weeks announcement I started a thread regarding whats happening at the club.my main concerns at the moment are:
1. will a revised half year budget be sent to the league and if so how will it affect the team?
2. given that we will now be entering a vital fundraising effort be it commercial or otherwise will an experienced marketer be brought onboard?
3.Having read comments by steve Herbert and paul Hornby its clear the bluebirds trust have been kept in the dark over relinquishment and transition. how is this going to pan out for the future?
4.is Andrew casson just relinquishing director role or is he leaving completely this week?

I would appreciate it if someone could ask the questions for me on Friday as im unable to attend and unlike other meetings the club haven't requested any input prior to it

In the words of the previous owner it's all about the legacy. The Casson money was and is needed, we all, in some form or other appreciate this no matter what. They're human and won't be revelling in the fact that they've failed to leave this legacy. Like most supporters at the time I thought this is exactly what we needed a benefactor to bring the club into the 21st century. Unfortunately we got the poundland version. The club-shop is still a joke-shop, the junior-section seems as ramshackle as it ever was and the ground is appalling. Best of luck to the next incumbents. Bring on the Barnet!

If what im hearing about the rugby is correct they wont be struggling for money any time soon, and if they decided to build a new ground they wudnt need a ground share to fund it
