Good Week or Bad Week?

I think a good week in all, but either way it's good to reflect

Potentially lost chance to encourage the floaters
A week off unplanned after great momentum isn't ideal

Perhaps a rest for players may end up being beneficial but I'm a strike while the iron is hot kinda guy.

Will comment again after Saturday.

Bad Week because once again it shows the stupidity of the football authorities in not arranging for regional leagues ( north and south) at our level of football.

When I posed this question I wasn't expecting the last 24 hours to be so "testy".

So let me try and put a smile of some faces. Yesterday, amidst all the furore on the forum I found myself in Southend at a function having a pint with a non-league legend. He shall remain nameless but over a beer he told a few stories which had me in tears of laughter and most of which I couldn't plant on this forum. However there was one that I thought was printable that you might like.

It concerns Nathan Ashmore who you may recall was until recently the keeper at Ebbsfleet before moving onto Boreham Wood. Indeed if you go on to the BAFC website you'll see Nathan in action in our recent 3-1 win at HS (seems like years ago). Anybody looking at Nathan might be struck by how unlike a classical keeper he appears. He's shortish, has been known to wear dreadlocks and is what you might call "stout". He always reminds me of a rather animated duck wandering about his area though he is a pretty competent keeper. He also is never short of a good sledge and loves getting involved in a push or shove contest. This seems to happen a lot when Barrow are in town.

His weight issues were partly why Ebbsfleet may have decided to call time on his services. Apparently this came to a head after August 10th when Ebbsfleet went up to AFC Fylde losing a tight game 1-0. After the game Fylde's hospitality extended to laying on a meal for the Ebbsfleet players consisting of a generous selection of pizzas. The squad tucked in, the pizzas went and finally it came time for the Ebbsfleet team to get back on the bus. But Nathan Ashmore was nowhere to be found. Eventually a search party was despatched and Nathan was finally located in the KFC down the road from the ground!

I know this should be in General football. But I thought it was a nice way to bring a dour week to a conclusion (especially if we dont progress against Solihull).

All credit to him he is a consistent fool. His performance today mirrored all his previous visits to our ground. Never gave us a thing all day and then put up with Solihulls constant falling to the ground and moaning. The man is not worthy of the term "referee"

Plenty? If two is plenty then yes. Poor ref, there seems to be a lot of dross that we get at home or am I just biased?

Crazy up & down week, mainly down but.....We "may look back further down the line" & be thankful we exited the cup early, I'm gutted we missed out on the prize money today & a decent home tie for the next round to get the public coming again as we missed out v Dover didn't we etc, But.... most of our playoff rivals either face a replay or are through to the next round so they face further fixtures, some might face 2 , 3 or 4 extra fixtures & remember not all of them are money spinners, but a couple could bank a decent wedge which could strengthen them financially for the run in.

Hopefully our loss today & the Dovergate may spur us on to prove a point to all comers & we continue to compete & our gates rise further, fingers crossed.
Having listened to both Paul Hornby's interviews on RC he really impressed me as the club gets so much more Professional across the board & Sponsorship has more than doubled & Companies/Corporate types are calling us rather than us calling them.

Everything really is improving besides this weeks & todays obvious blip, 2 Draws in our next 2 away games wouldn't be bad, 3 or 4 points great & 6 would be Dreamland.

Had a feeling this week would end like this.
When you are playing so well and have the wind in your sails, the last thing you want is a break within that momentum!
Could be a blessing in disguise, I don't think we have a big enough squad to have cup runs as well as push for playoffs or championship.
Poor ref and players that fall over Cheaply was just the final kick in the teeth for me this week.

Move on, get back to winning ways in the league.

Bad week lost momentum with lost game out of cup which would have made us some much needed cash however water under bridge more importantly still got ie and 20 years between first 2 trophy wins hoping we half that next year will be ten years so would settle for that and playoffs
