It was the 60’s when then Burnley chairman got the agreement, and the EFL current stance explained somewhat here;

Re: Oldham game on iFollow
I wonder if that’s why Colchester and Newport both wanted to play on a Friday night as it’s a win win for them they wouldn’t send many fans to barrow and now their supporters can stream the game this putting more money in their coffers so I hope that by agreeing to change it to a Friday night we have done a deal to get 50 percent of iFollow revenues

I don't think it's within our gift to do any kind of deal, it's up to iFollow. Anyway, as I understand it, under normal circumstances, i.e. midweek games, the home team gets all the iFollow revenue. But it seems on this one occasion - Saturday kick-off, International break - whoever sells the pass gets the revenue. So if we buy the pass through our website we get the revenue.Broughton Fan wrote: ↑Thu Sep 02, 2021 6:51 pm I wonder if that’s why Colchester and Newport both wanted to play on a Friday night as it’s a win win for them they wouldn’t send many fans to barrow and now their supporters can stream the game this putting more money in their coffers so I hope that by agreeing to change it to a Friday night we have done a deal to get 50 percent of iFollow revenues
But I could be way off the mark.
Don't let the old man in.

Suppose Colchester get 500 streams through their website @£8 a time that’s £4000 to their club on a Friday night and if it’s played on Saturday afternoon they get nothing so when they were requesting the change surely a cut of iFollow revenues would and should have been part of the discussion
Re: Oldham game on iFollow
Why? It's unlikely to have a negative impact on our attendance, and we can sell iFollow passes to fans who can't make it. It's already win-win.Broughton Fan wrote: ↑Thu Sep 02, 2021 8:06 pm Suppose Colchester get 500 streams through their website @£8 a time that’s £4000 to their club on a Friday night and if it’s played on Saturday afternoon they get nothing so when they were requesting the change surely a cut of iFollow revenues would and should have been part of the discussion

IFollow has reverted back to how it always used to be
Whoever sells the pass gets the cash so what Colchester sell is there’s and what we sell is oirs

Re: Oldham game on iFollow
Your correct with the info above but why not play our cards better, they want the fixture moved to a Friday evening to gain financially, So why not negotiate say 35/40% as they can’t do it without us.Moribund wrote: ↑Thu Sep 02, 2021 8:14 pmWhy? After all, It’s a business these days as we have to get savvier
Re: Oldham game on iFollow
Rules are rules, and would need the consent of the EFL. I don't think there will be a massive difference in terms of attendance as MT says. If anything, it may be a good thing in terms of revenue:mickmike wilson wrote: ↑Thu Sep 02, 2021 9:30 pmYour correct with the info above but why not play our cards better, they want the fixture moved to a Friday evening to gain financially, So why not negotiate say 35/40% as they can’t do it without us.

- Change is unlikely to make a difference to an away support from the South East. Colchester aren't exactly the best supported team in League Two, 2,300 at their home game against Mansfield a couple of weeks ago.
- Those who are tied up of Saturday are more likely to come, i.e those who play football or cricket, shift workers that work days over the weekend etc.
- Ex-pats who can't make home games can spend a tenner on an iFollow pass.
- Friday night out may be enticing to a few, finish work on the Friday afternoon, go for a few, go to the football.
Popular side since '03.
Re: Oldham game on iFollow
No.
Suspect the live tv rule is to do with protecting football attendances on Saturdays at 3pm, from televised EPL matches, of which there won't be any in an international break.

Sure Mark Cooper and the players would much rather have 500 noisy Bluebirds there rather than sat at home on the sofaxerxes wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 9:50 pm The Oldham game will be on iFollow, with Barrow getting the income if booked via BAFC website. If we all watch on iFollow, is the financial support this could generate worth more than the vocal support that would be provided by if we all went to the match? Discuss.
Ifollow is a handy extra this weekend for anyone who isn’t already going to the game, that’s all
Re: Oldham game on iFollow
Being 200 miles away I'd be relying on my audio ifollow app, but now I'll pay up £10 to watch and the Club will get a cut. There are probably hundreds like me across the country.

Perhaps so.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 10:17 am Sure Mark Cooper and the players would much rather have 500 noisy Bluebirds there rather than sat at home on the sofa
All else being equal, likely Mr Hornby and colleagues would prefer the club had their <=£4000 iFollow payments* rather than Oldham benefit from £5000 - £6000 excluding VAT for their tickets plus all the Bovril profits.
(Unsure if the quoted 80% of receipts to the club from iFollow match passes includes or excludes VAT)
