The same man the board vehemently backed at the Q&A at the back end of March. Was interesting what he said about Whing given the board was split on his departure as mentioned on an episode of the Barrow social

Well that's a pretty damming listen. Mr Wood and his ego has hoodwinked the bloody lot of them.
Does raise a few questions of why Dino was shown the door for me though. If he was trying to set about putting things right and telling not only the players but also the board some home truths why give him the boot - or was that Mr Wood too?

Yes, they certainly doubled down in the face of gentle criticism (from me on the night, amongst others). Wood looked [SwearFilter] clueless and hapless at that event. Appearances were NOT deceptive.

I would suggest if Dino was pointing out failings that could have been laid at the door of the CEO then I suspect it was he who got Dino the boot as much as, if not more so than, the players

Hard hitting and open interview. BUT he still insists that last season’s squad was good enough. I don’t agree with that at all. You live and die by recruitment and that group saw off 5 managers and still ended up being relegated. By the sounds of it too much player influence in the decision making (ie Dino)
Fans knew summer was a transitional period for the club losing so many key players and that recruitment had to be robust and without risk and they did the opposite. January recruitment was a chance to steady the ship and they brought in totally the wrong players, the message at the time was “we don’t need to do much” when we could all see where we needed to strengthen.

Hopefully we can bounce straight back

It was hard hitting. Rightly or wrongly he threw physio Karly Bland under the bus. Ultimately the owners took their eyes off the ball and we paid the price.

I knew that there was something going on with those injuries it didn't add up ,think the saddest thing about that interview is that even though most of us have no inside knowledge we all knew that it was a complete disaster off and on the pitch!
I'm with Jonty Yes I've no doubt that a lot of the players were good enough but lacked 2 things desire/ heart you could be the best player in the world but without having those 2 things you won't go far !

Holy crap!
A calamitous mess or a convoluted whodunit where among a few red herons the prime suspect was the culprit all along. As ever, Paul Hornby’s honesty is his saving grace and he was let down badly by his maverick CEO it would seem; but his decision making for such key appointments has been catastrophic. Let’s hope such hard lessons have finally been learned and that more reasoned and evidence-based decisions are now being made.

That 6 minutes of interview is probably the most brutally honest hornby has been

We wanted answers to the questions he has given them !!

Let’s hope they have learned from last seasons awful decisions and make this season a good one
Let there be BARROVIAN BEDLAM :scarf: :scarf:

I really worry that with PH it’s a case of ‘Believe the last person that you spoke to’ syndrome. It’s amazing how often it happens if you don’t question what is going on around you.

Absolutely.

Quite why there's an inquest now about the hours the physio was keeping is beyond me. If that was a problem it should have been addressed at the time, but the players mostly weren't good enough and every time someone returned from a lay off the performances didn't really improve.

The way I interpreted it is the reason it wasn't dealt with at the time was because it was Woods job and he just didnt do it. Obviously as Hornby admits the buck stops with him and the board but if you have a charlatan of a CEO who is clearly good at convincing/hoodwinking others then its hard.
Like I said above Mr Wood has hoodwinked the lot of em and looked after number 1.

Is Joe Harvey still recruiting players? The signings seem very much to have Murray’s fingerprints all over them to me

But we had a Q&A having got rid of Whing, Gallagher, and Dino where at the board vehemently defended Wood from any criticism whatsoever. It begs the question just when did the penny finally drop? Im with April 1972 and it really does sound and look like PH has it’s a case of ‘Believe the last person that you spoke to’ syndrome.
