Looking at this thread one thing I have found irritating since the start of the season is that the phone never seems to get answered,I don’t know if the phone system needs upgraded or there’s not enough people to answer it but whichever way it makes the club look amateurish and results in lost sales and supporters getting fed up with a lack of information about tickets or merchandise

It's worth pointing out that in many parts of the country the postal service at the moment is an absolute shambles, with staff shortages meaning that mail is just piling up and first class deliveries sometimes taking well over a week to get through. This may or may not be relevant to the issue of people not getting their tickets through the post. But I for one wouldn't want to risk using the postal service for anything important at the moment.

Bingo is not on about Carlisle away; he’s on about the shop, tickets etc in general. We really need to get a lot more professional off the field

Back to Carlisle away…the burning question now is whether CUFC can now open up the Petteril (Waterworks) end. This is a behind-goal terrace at northern end of ground with a capacity of circa 2,000 that apparently has a safety rating but is usually closed due to Brunton Park never getting close to capacity. On the rare occasions it is used it is allocated to away fans.

I think they need a safety certificate to re-open that end. If we are placed there I just hope it doesn't rain! Or snow

BREAKING NEWS…I’ve just spoken to CUFC ticket office. The Petteril End cannot be opened up due to safety / police concerns. However, they are in the process of printing out another 200 away tickets & posting them out to the club today. Apparently there is another area of the ground (presumably in the stand we have been allocated) that they can fit more of our fans into. Presumably they will just move their own fans further towards the Warwick Rd end of the stand we are in and give us more sections of it - presuming they can still segregate effectively.

My Carlisle and Banbury tickets both turned up today.

Paid the £3 tracked and signed for delivery for both. Banbury turned up in a normal envelope with a first class stamp, Carlisle arrived about half an hour later in a special delivery envelope with a tag attached saying it had guaranteed delivery by 1pm today at a cost of £6.85.

I think someone has got the envelopes mixed up as I'd imagine Banbury was supposed to be guaranteed for today. Still, I paid tracked and signed for both and got more than that for one and less than that for the other.

You couldn't make up how badly we do things sometimes.

There is a bloke on twitter travelling up from Portsmouth for next weekend's game yet to receive his ticket. The club could really do with getting a grip on this as there will be many making long trips or a weekend of it that will no doubt be worried they aren't going to receive the tickets in time. No good them turning up a couple of days beforehand if they are planning on spending some time in the area.

Before anyone asks why can't they pick them up if they are visiting Barrow or the surrounding area anyway, it shouldn't be a problem putting your trust in the club to do something relatively simple.

As it happens, there are a number of issues here, Harvey, though am thinking you may be on a bit of wind-up. I will briefly oblige you.

It is worth pointing out now that my personal expectations for delivery have not been impacted by the Amazon next day concept and they remain reasonable.

It makes sense, for all sorts of reasons, that the vendor, in this case the Club, despatches the goods, if they are in stock, within a short time of the customer having paid for them. This generally means early receipt and peace of mind for the customer and generally reduces any ongoing logistical burden on the vendor. It also means that the customer has the product that he or she has paid for, not an unreasonable expectation. In the case of away matches, in particular, it is the crucial piece in the jigsaw. If the railway lets you down, there are options such as driving, flying, cycling, bus etc. Without your match ticket though, everything else is irrelevant.

If for any reason there is a delay (which does happen) simply let the buyers know either in advance or post-purchase, through an email (using the customer database) or via social media channels as to what is going on. If the buyer knows what is happening, a massive percentage of customer concerns are automatically managed and disappear because there is information flowing and most reasonable people 'get it'. Maintaining radio silence should not be an option as it leads to customer frustration, loss of goodwill plus even more work for the vendor as customer concerns and complaints have to be answered and addressed, wasting valuable labour time that be constructively used elsewhere.

Leaving despatch/delivery to the last minute is asking for trouble, particularly as you are relying on the third party, over which you have no control, to do the job. Things do go wrong and first class post and tracked mail do not necessarily arrive when you want them to or hope they will.

Our own Royal Mail home delivery generally occurs between 11am and 2pm. If the despatch is late and the delivery is delayed and the tickets do not arrive until Saturday of a game, we are screwed as we have to get the 7.30am or at the latest, 8.30am train out of Euston, especially as the scuffers have insisted on a 1pm kick-off for Carlisle away. We will have paid for match tickets, paid for trains (never cheap) and will not have the option of paying on the day yet will not be able to get into the game. Some like to travel the day before or incorporate the match into a mini-break. Late delivery the day before does not assist them either.

The other main matter is that if items are despatched within a day or two of them being purchased, you have a reasonable idea of when they should arrive and can make 'enquiries' with plenty of time to spare and more importantly, time to find a solution if they do not arrive.

I note a tweet from the club which stated that in the future, 'a system will be in place'. Hoping to high heaven that this is the case though it suggests that up until now, it has been done on a wing and a prayer. I do appreciate that this is one of the growing pains that the club is enduring. That said, facilitating Barrow fans to watch football matches home and away should be up there on the list of priorities.

I would say if it stays as it is and there are 200 spare seats they.ll let you sit where you want but I suspect if you take the other 200 and sell them then they might insist on you sticking to your numbered seat due to the issue with some of the last 200 having a slightly restricted view as you.ll probably be told to sell them with a note to that attached.

Other than a very small number the view of the ones they actually sell isn't really obstructed it's more a case of watching a game from a very strange angle where the seats are beyond the touchline but if at the last minute you haven't got a ticket but fancy going I wouldn't let it put you off

Being in Scotland, I agree with everything you say, Cubbins Paratrooper, but particularly enjoyed your use of the epithet 'scuffers' I haven't heard that in years!

Didnt get a choice of where I could sit when buying my ticket but now expected to sit on my allocated seat away from family I want to sit with?
