Whilst I hear what you're saying, the person asking the questions should be asking "what do the fans want to know the answer to?" and if the interviewer is uncomfortable doing that then he could preface a question with a statement like 'Some fans are suggesting that you seem as though you are setting up the team to play for a draw. What would you say to this?" Put the blame on the fans!FanzoneFan wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 9:23 amIn Adam’s defence, I think we all forget, because we enjoy his commentary, that’s he’s not a trained journalist just a fan like we all are, that’s doing his dream job getting paid to travel all over the country following the fortunes of the club he’s followed since a child. Keep up the good work AJ.DDevine wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2024 5:44 pm
With the utmost respect to you Adam, you’re not talking to a friend, your there in a professional capacity & something like pivotal moments in the game should not
‘slip the mind’ no matter how uncomfortable they are to ask.
Listen mate you’re great at what you do and I don’t mean this in a personal way. Listen to every podcast, every interview. And enjoy them all.
But you’re a professional journalist. When you’re there in that capacity, perhaps you can’t also be there as a ‘fan’.
100% appreciate having to keep a relationship with the club, but not if it’s just asking questions they want to answer, and not the ones they don’t.
Just like Pete, Adam is learning his trade, and although he - presumably - is freelance, if he wants to progress beyond that he should be asking the difficult questions from time to time, but also acknowledge when the team and/or Pete has done well.
Hope this doesn't come across as criticism of Adam - if so it's meant to be positive.
Adam does a great job. I't easy for us armchair critics, but I would imagine it's not easy when you are talking to the manager who has just finished a match in which he is seething at the ref, but has to be careful what he says for the punishment that might come his way.
Carry on doing what you're doing Adam - it's a great job, and hopefully you'll soon be talking to a manager who has got his team into the play-offs, and who knows you could be commentating from Wembley soon! As fans we are as frustrated as Pete probably is but whatever the outcome, it's been a great season!
