[quote="blue nige"]yes john coleman did do well at accrington but don`t forget he had eric whalley (local businessman) bank-rolling the club! his budget far exceeded others at the time so they could get the players they wanted, also the demigraphics of the conference have moved on,and i doubt with the way its set up now it would have panned out the same.also i don`t see teams offering him present positions![/quote
Much of their success was funded by the sell-on clause in Brett Ormerod's initial transfer which i think netted them around £250k.No doubt JC was instrumental in having that clause inserted.

Ormerod was sold by Accrington in 1997
Coleman became Accrington manager in 1999

Why?

AFAIK the job of Barrow manager is part time.

Interesting to see in tonight's EM that Anthony is interested in being involved. What's the betting on Meeks as Manager with Anthony as his Assistant?

More likely Anthony with Henney,Edmondson or maybe Skelton, why would he work with someone he doesn't know.

Why would DB have been sacked eighteen months ago when the team had just finished in their highest position in the league since 1991, playing arguably their best football in recent years and he had received the manager of the month award three months previously and average crowds were back at their highest since the initial Conference Premier season of the unprecedented five consecutive seasons at the top level of English non-league football the team has recently completed?

After fifteen games last season (we are around that point now) Barrow were seventeenth, not really sacking territory. After twenty-five games, however, Barrow were bottom and had been for five games. That would have arguably have been the time to consider a change as a matter of urgency.

Six months ago we had been relegated with attendances 30% down on the season and there was a strong argument for a change but equally - given the off-field mayhem there appears to have been in the background last season - there was a reasonable argument for keeping him on to give him a fair chance of rescuing the on-field situation in a (hopefully) more stable off-field environment.

I think we have to look wider for loss of "sponsorship, goodwill and suchlike".

I do hope that is not the case as it would mean we have not given the candidates proper concideration. I am sure the B O D will think long and hard before they decide who will take our club onward and upwards. :scarf: :scarf:
