Ow doo DB and welcome on board - also worth a Google and a gargle are Cunningham's, corner of Bath St & Nelson St or the Ambrose Duke St, both near the ground, good beers, sports orientated (should be showing United v Reading at 12:30) and should have a few in for a bit o craic.

As Wintergreen says both good pubs but maybe a bit off the beaten track for you - if you're coming by Rail - and you don't want to get lost in Hindpool!

The Duke of Ed and The Railway look like being the ones for atmosphere.
Avoid The British Legion - covered in mothballs and cobwebs.
