New to the forum. Just to say 4 of us from Blackburn are travelling up for the game on Saturday to support Barrow. All disgruntled Rovers fans and all looking forward to it.

I've always had a soft spot for Barrow being a proud old Lancashire club, have always followed your progress and great to see you in touching distance of getting back into the football league. I also played on Holker St a few years ago.

Just wanted some pub recommendations please? We are getting an early train up. I've been to the Furness Railway pub a couple of times after golfing up there but that's it! Any decent real ale pubs or pubs where home fans tend to go?

Anyway really looking forward to it, more excited for it then I've been for any Blackburn Rovers game for a while, comon the Bluebirds!

Plenty of beer choice can be found at the Duke of Edinburgh which is across the rd from the train station. Then maybe on the 10 minute walk to Holker St stop off at the British Legion club, still in the style of a 1970s establishment where a good pint of robinsons best bitter can be obtained. If your feeling the need for more refreshment, then on to the tally ho pub where you will find a good lot of barrow fans and/or the soccer bar which is next door to the ground and a mixture of both supporters from what I've heard

Benny - QPR away is an unappealing draw for us. Most fans wanted a lower league away day. Got lucky in the cup last year with Newport and Oxford away, went to both, Newport is a long way to go for a game to be called off an hour before kick off! Prospect of attending an old Lancashire derby is more appealing!

As mikemarshwasgood mentions, the Duke of Ed virtually across the road from the station is as good as anywhere - decent food as well.
Nearer the ground there is the Tally Ho, or on the other side is the Soccer Bar, the clubs Cross Bar will be open after the cameras finish at about 1:00pm

Ow doo DB and welcome on board - also worth a Google and a gargle are Cunningham's, corner of Bath St & Nelson St or the Ambrose Duke St, both near the ground, good beers, sports orientated (should be showing United v Reading at 12:30) and should have a few in for a bit o craic.

As mentioned the Duke of Ed, Furness Railway & Ambrose with a good selection of beers are close to the station. Tally Ho, The Soccer Bar & The Cross Bar are next to the ground which should be full of supporters from around 1ish.

We're a friendly bunch and I'm sure Youl enjoy your time up in Barrow..as you said hopefully Youl witness a good old fashioned Lancashire cup game.
