Desmond2-2 wrote: Tue Aug 20, 2024 7:17 pm Well Hadrian, if you can’t make an assessment on a player’s scoring ability, after watching him last season and 3 games this, then your obliviously not capable of any judgement. We’ve lost 15 goal with the loss of Whitfield and Stockton, the players we now have in forward positions will score those goals, I’m sure of that.
In which case, you will not be troubled by my judgement that you have likely missed 'not' from your last sentence which in its present format rather undermines your argument.

Not like you to miss a negative.
And did he mean to say ‘obliviously’?

We have scored 4 goals in 3 games and people are moaning about the lack of goalscorers.
Poor old Salford with Cole Stockton, haven't managed a single goal in 4 league and cup games so far this season.
Imagine what their fans are saying.

IF our defenders can bag 8-12 between them & the Midfield 18-23 collectively it helps out enormously & the forwards bagging 35+ between them will see us do alright. in the grand scheme of things.

Against two very poor teams at the moment in this league .
One who goes on to get beat 5-0 at home the next game and another side who. had not won till they beat us
The goal difference for the two games is 0 hardly a proflic scoring record
Port Vale will be another test let's see what happens.

Fair comment but we have just had a game against county rivals where (l think I'm right in saying) we didn't have a shot on target. That's not good for supporters, morale or points. You don't win if you don't score and setting up with Acquahman as lone striker - come on.

After reading all these posts it's made the NSC Predictions Competition easy for league 2 just can't decide if Barrow will finish 23rd or 24th.

I will be happy with a point on Saturday against what will be a much stronger port vale side than we played in the Carrabo cup.
The games after that is where we should be judged Harrogate and Swindon. They are the games we should be winning

If only football was that easy to predict MSST we’d all be millionaires, no team should hold any fears for Barrow. I think we’ve got a decent enough squad and enough quality to do well if we get the formation right. After such a good start IMO that was a shocking starting selection against Carlisle, especially with the attacking options we had available hence we got what we deserved nothing. Play to our strengths and we’ll be fine so hoping for a win Sat, but let’s be honest we are Barrow so it won’t be easy going whichever way we look at it.

This thread is like reading a marginally less pornographic version of Fifty Shades of Grey.

At the very top of our league there is prowess and performance. At the very bottom there is impotence and chaos.

In between there are just the margins of mediocrity ranging from “generally gets the job done with some style whilst occasionally having a night off” down to “can barely keep their end up”.

All that Saturday showed was that they were up for it whilst we were in the camp of being “too tired”.

I truly hope we are more inclined against Port Vale. Otherwise it will be like a stallion rogering a pantomime horse.

Hopefully Valve will be scuppered as any list even this early may cause irreparable damage.

After our victory today and three of our forwards scoring great goals, does anyone on this thread want to apologise for their negativity, or admit to getting it completely wrong? Thought not.
