It’s not Good!
I’ve said this from pre season, our forwards just are not good enough, and what I mean is,if we don’t add, replace , we are going to really struggle, infact even worse. Many are going to criticise me on this, but those who have played the game, and know football, will agree.I don’t honestly believe, that our strikers, 4 of, will score 25 goals between them. It’s early days, and can be addressed, that’s why it needs discussing.

Re: It’s not Good!
Bit of a point. I feel non of them can play the role upfront alone. All of them need closer support. Too isolated.
It was achauh vs 3 many times today when pointless long balls were hit at him, the same as if it was Telford garner or dallas up thier.
Support to them is the problem.
We get it wide in good positions and only ever one in box, or the lone striker makes the run out wide and no ones in the box.
This team just needs to attack, take a few risks and goals are there.

Re: It’s not Good!
There are 24 Clubs in Barrow’s division alone all wanting a striker that will score 20+ goals. In reality the only way of having such a player is by throwing money at a big name for the level or playing a system that suits the players already in the building (the latter being barrow's route).
Take Dom Telford for an example, scored 25 league goals for Newport a few seasons ago with no previous of doing so.
I agree teams at the right end of the table always have a “talisman” putting up decent numbers, feel it’s down to the coaches now to get one or two of them firing …

He was the only decent forward
If the League had not ended because of Covid I honestly think we would have stayed in the National League.
Its been a long time getting back in the league and if we go out that will be it.
You cannot be criticised for worrying.
PV not there B team will be the second real test.
Cannot see us winning that with these forwards.

Re: It’s not Good!
This pretty much summed up yesterday’s problems (well, up front it does). Acquah hasn’t the pace or even the best of footballing brains to be placed in that role on his own. Garner is a similar player so will also struggle. Dallas….I’m not sure what sort of player he is! Perhaps SC has to try and find a formation that somehow allows Telford to start alongside one of the above.boyliegladbach wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 12:23 am Bit of a point. We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
Re: It’s not Good!
When we play the high press and win the ball back in and around the area ,there are players there in numbers that can score.
It's exciting to watch and opposition teams can't get a foothold in the match and we look confident.
I think dropping this tactic against a poor side like Carlisle was a tactical mistake and no more ,but why not switch back to it when it was clear to see that we werent getting anywhere on saturday.
I'm putting this down to SC and hope he learns from it.
One more thing ,Garner looks really sharp when playing the high press. There is a decent player in there.

Pedro you really need to change what you drink. That negativity on draft is pickling your brain. We will be fine. It's going to take time to adjust patience is the key we will finish mid table or just above. A few more bumps in the road than last season but we overall we will be much more entertaining. It will be very much like Evatts first season IMO.Pedro wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 5:33 amIts been like this since Quigley left.Desmond2-2 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 11:07 pm I’ve said this from pre season, our forwards just are not good enough, and what I mean is,if we don’t add, replace , we are going to really struggle, infact even worse. Evatt had a half decent strike force, that unfortunately is and has been our Achilles heel.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 9:01 amPedro you really need to change what you drink. Perhaps take a punt at lower league strikers who work hard and find the net? It's a difficult one bearing in mind costs.

He didn't in his first season our top scorer then was Rooney with just 9 goals. We have the strikers IMO they just need the chances creating for them.olbarrafancumbak wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 9:40 amEvatt had a half decent strike force, that unfortunately is and has been our Achilles heel.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 9:01 am

Re: It’s not Good!
I don’t really do tactics or tic-tacs for that matter but maybe the causes of our lack of goals/goal-scoring opportunities lie elsewhere? Proven goalscorers like Stockton and Telford have struggled at Barrow with the former looking bemused at times having made many runs to no avail. A lasting memory of last season was seeing balls from wide positions (mainly from Newby) skip invitingly across the six-yard line with no one within range. Why was that? I doubt the drafting in of more budget type strikers is going to help us greatly; Mr Clemence is a vastly experienced ex-player himself of course (as was Ian Evatt) and will be finding things out in real time now and hopefully find the solutions to the problems which are inherit.
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...

Re: It’s not Good!
Garner, if he plays needs to be the 10 imho, with either Aquah, Telford or Dallas ahead
That was my main (well one of my main) frustration.
All the clubs are looking for the same player.
