Are you deliberately missing the point here!
The company that short changed us could be sent the cleaning bill….If the club decide to treat those who cleaned them, that would be nice then both club & cleaners aren’t out of pocket.
Sure this would have been swept under the carpet a long, long time ago!
Well I am not looking for money but was using it as an example of how willing hands worked out better than a paid handy man who cleared off as soon as his paid hours were up.
Yes a long time ago now.

At the end off the day the Club does need a handyman and if they appointed somebody it would be part of his job and his job remit to clean the ground after match days the club needs to get away from relying on volunteers we are a football league club now volunteers yes can still do the small jobs but cleaning the ground and everything like that should be done by appeared employee now

As we said a month or so ago, we’re now doing our main ground visits after home games, if anyone would like to spend a few hours helping out we’ll be there from 8:30 till dinner time.
There’ll be work in the match day control room, a bit of painting, litter picking, pictures to hang, starting repairs on the Wilkie Rd gates, advertising boards to position and secure and making a start on the Next Game boards frame.
If you can make it could you please let us know so we can organise jobs and make sure we have enough brews & eats.

Good to see the Wilkie Rd gates are getting some attention. They are an eyesore at present.
Quite a list of jobs still to do then. Advertising boards are important as they bring some money into the club.
Question---is the money renewed each year or is it a one off payment? Local companies getting behind the club now which is encouraging.

Usually a set term agreement for twelve months but some agree for longer or renew on a rolling basis when prompted by the commercial manager.

Thanks Mark. I hope they are all renewed. A pain putting them up to have to remove them again if not coughing up. Commercial manager needs to keep an eye on who renews and who doesn't. I'll go and knock on doors if necessary.

A few from today.
Once again the ground has been completely cleared of litter, a cracking job out of the way by two of the lads.
The sparks fixed the water heater in one of the pop side toilets.

The first aid shelters Perspex has recently been fixed after we found it had popped out of the metal frame.
A bit of painting in the match day control room to tidy it up. It’s already had new lighting put in and a new wider worktop for all the CCTV equipment.

The gates on the Wilkie Rd side of the ground were in a shocking condition, we removed the plywood and replaced it with some of the cladding sheets we used on the HSE a few years back.
Pictures were hung in the Legends room and Fred Else room by two new volunteers. There was also some more painting done on the pop side.
As usual we were well looked after with ears baked by Marion and brews made by Elaine.
Good to see a decent turnout today which always makes things easier.

Just thought I’d show a few images of what the midweek lads get up to.
This is the new away fans corner and they’ve all been busy trying to get it ready for use. They’ve fitted and connected up the water supply and as you can see….doing the job not many would take on by putting hands and arms into the old soak away toilet to clear the drain! The barrow full of debris (and whatever else..) is what came out.
Another example of how this type of work can save the club a small fortune.
It was the first time I’d seen inside of the refreshment chacon and it looks quite good, I believe Frazer and his mate off the Trust have been doing the outfit.

A job that 95% of supporters wouldn’t know anything about that the midweek lads take on (especially during autumn/winter). When it rains the bottom rows of terracing along the pop side flood, the water is cleared out by hand so supporters aren’t stood in it during matches.
The volunteer in the picture also goes along and clears all the moss, otherwise the damp areas become quite dangerous to stand on.
Another job that went by pretty much unnoticed last week was we had a call a few hours before Tuesdays game saying all the lights had gone off in the fanzone toilets (external ones) and the lighting attached to the toilets that light up the area by the fanzone gates. Our leccys went down and fixed the problem in time for the fanzone opening.

This is really good stuff, 'Spirit' and thank-you for bringing this to our attention. '...95% of supporters wouldn’t know anything about...' is probably a serious underestimate, especially now that our attendances are growing. It is clear that these lads are doing a fantastic job. Am sure that I speak on behalf of much of the support when asking you to pass on our grateful thanks and if they are in the vicinity, I'll happily include them in any round of ale when it is my shout.
