Furloughing players

Some of you lot on here are unbelievable. Talk about never happy! Oh and before anyone points out the obvious - yes I am aware of the number of trolls etc.
Whilst the use of the furlough scheme is something that is up for debate, as has been said by others, if it can be used and legally then why not - we are fighting for our survival here and you bet your life other will be doing similar.
Reality is that DD screwed us up big time and continuing with the existing squad he created would have seen us relegated. A savvy chairman has used his nous and come up with a way of giving the new gaffer the means to try and rejuvenate the team and now we have to hope it works.

Terrible terrible decision. Completely morally wrong. This is not what the Furlough scheme is intended for.
This is a complete bending of the rules.
There are plenty of Companies and individuals out there that have fallen through all the Government funding schemes, grants & loans through now fault of their own and then on the other hand there are businesses like our football club milking the system instead. Wrong on so many levels and a complete disgrace for me.

Looking at the comments on this thread i think the club have badly miss judged how supporters would react to the club using the furlough scheme in this way. As someone has already pointed out even the clubs media manager Mark Simpson called Chesterfields use of the scheme in the same way we are into question saying it was not a good look in his opinion.
The bluebirds trust need to make a statement on this IMO otherwise i fear this could have a detriment effect on future raffles and fundraising

Players under 22 years old don't need to be registered. It's definitely 4 not including Penfold.

Of course, I was forgetting about the age rule. Penfold is contracted to the club though so should be included.

The lower-league clubs who did not claim furlough for staff in the final weeks of 2020 were Portsmouth, Fleetwood Town, Burton Albion, AFC Wimbledon, Bolton Wanderers, Harrogate Town and Salford City. Barrow completed the set but have since changed their approach.

End of the day the club is a business. Everyone saying that they don’t want their tax paying for players wages, we are already paying for other teams wages! Head of the club knows more about finance and the clubs finance than anyone. Might not be moral but if it’s the best way for the club to go forward then I’m behind it
