I do wonder sometimes whether substitutions are part of the problem. Go for subs if we are losing, but keep the same eleven (barring injuries) if we are winning. Kirk and Popov for Eccleston and Spence is not going to make the defence stronger. Having said that, it seems like a catstrophic error of judgement by Vassell.
Agreed, Vassell did the same against Carlisle, dropped like a drone on the off chance of a free kick, they score, everyone has mistakes in them, just don’t make them and gift the opposition a goal.

I’m sorry, that is not a mistake. That is trying to con a foul out of the ref in your own penalty area when you’re hanging on after already throwing away leads in the last minute for the last god knows how many games. It’s not a mistake it’s [SwearFilter] diabolical Sunday league defending (again)!!!!

That was not a good performance at all let's be honest. Did we do enough to warrant more than a draw? Frustrating week in week out atm. Not a surprise the gate numbers are dropping we aren't playing an attractive brand of football and we aren't doing the defensive stuff right either. If we don't win next week Mr clemence will start facing serious questions

Jonty we were losing it in midfield WE had no one to bring on and Spence couldn't tackle because he was on a yellow but let's be honest VASSELL that was diabolical and Clemence should fine him for that so unprofessional!, then starts fighting at full time hope nothing comes of that !

First half was excellent it's the last 20 minutes we seem to run out of steam!

Is it just me or have we gone from 2 strikers to just 1 in recent weeks ?
Think Mahoney had a shocking game and we were unlucky to lose Spence to injury but Vassel "again" falling over (i had it at 3 times this game the ref didn't give him a free kick) and the last one cost us the 3 points !
We aren't creating chances and if and thats a massive if we didn't keep conceding 90 + minute goals we'd probably be top of the league but now we are 11th ! How many teams doen near the bottom have taken points off us so far ?????

Got to be asking questions of the manager now, everyone can concede late doors but it’s the fact we’ve not looked like scoring for a long time. They should’ve scored when their winger cut inside, then the pull back to Spence balloms ir, we got a good break away goal today but apart from that nothing again. We’ve not got over the half way line second half we’ve just sat in our defensive has just hoofed it forward to Dom Telford who’s 5 foot which is no offence to him. They deserved the draw, the goal he’s fell over but regardless that was a bad performance, never an advocate of getting rid of a manager but after the new manager bounce we’ve been terrible, the next run of fixtures too interesting times….!

Was it? Thought we were okay but bar the spence chance and the goal we did nothing. If you weren't a regular what from that performance would drag you there Tuesday or next Saturday?

What happens in the last ten to twenty minutes of a game is always dependent upon the first 70.

Thought we played really well in the first half and totally outplayed them. We really should have been more than a goal up at HT. But we weren’t. And at 0-0 or 1-0 we just don’t look confident. That transmits itself to the opposition and they step up their game. Also for some reason instead of harrying the opposition like we did brilliantly in the first half we fell deeper and deeper. Sensing what was coming Clemence then makes several changes that have the effect of disrupting the pattern of play even more and we get the inevitable result.

It’s no coincidence that we concede so late. And we’ll keep doing it until we build on a lead.

Agree Mahoney doesn't seem to do enough a lot of the times he drifts inside and left Neo against 2 but he's one of clemences favourites!

Today I could only liken it to a coop full of chickens the cockerels were preening their feathers first half then a fox got in somehow and it was chaotic at times to say the least for most of the second half. Clucking heads all over the place and no composure. And ended in total carnage.

Held by a very poor Colchester team, the first half was okay with attempts by us to get forward and score. The second half we unfortunately slipped back into a mode where we concede territory and possession which ultimately costs us a goal and points. I can’t really understand the retreat and how we have slipped into it but it has certainly cost us dear. At times particularly in the second half of games we are so compressed that there is no out ball and when it is punted forward the opposition recycle the ball straight back and we are under pressure with little respite and we eventually crack.
I guess the solution is to keep competing as we do in the first half the puzzle is why we don’t, the players are the same so how is this happening.

One could say a Cock managed to throw 3 points away then!

Agree we need someone or to sign someone to lead us on in midfield that second half was baffling and it showed up our lack of quality midfielders on the bench ,yes we didn't have Foley but why did we sign about 8 wide player's seems like a complete lack of foresight from Clemence and Co !

We had the game under control at HT. We did this by playing on the front foot. So why we end up playing deep and trying to hit them on the counter I do not know. They weren’t putting us under intense pressure. We did it to ourselves.

The introduction of Tovide was critical to their point. Just fast and physical. Didn’t really care whether his challenges were legal or not, he was brought on to disrupt. Which he did brilliantly. From the moment he came on sense would have dictated that this might be the point you shut up shop. There were a couple of warnings by way of breaks that weren’t heeded in the closing minutes and yet we continued to go for it at the other end introducing Popov and Kirk. I’m all for attacking football but that to me was really naive. Shut the game down and take the points.
