While I'm on one Rokerlad, onered & the rest of you, seriously, have you not got more important things to talk about on your own forum?

Why not start up your very own "New Manager" thread? it's looking very likely you'll need one.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

I'd be so so disapointed if Edmondson gets the job. I'll still back him and give him my support but I just dont hope its true.
His teams have been less than average for 5+ years. 5+ years he's had to build something and he's built nothing. Nothing at all.
I just cant see the attraction. Why has he been headhunted?? I'd rather have someone unproven like Henney/Anthony than someone who is proven to be poor.
I dont buy this Wukkinton shit budget craic either, there budget will be average for the league, yet his teams havent been. So so disapointed.
Skelts also runs their community stuff doesnt he? Cant see him giving up that job. More likely he'll become their new manager, they'll flourish we'll sink.
Sorry for the negativity....just massively massively underwhelmed. It has nothing to do with anti wukkinton or out like that its just purely based on results and the time he's had. He's just not achieved anything.

Not too sure what that means "7th lowest budget" "swelled slightly by Stockport County"

I dont get all this "he's done miracles keeping them where they are" They still play crap football, their gates are dwindling, they want him out........what's the difference to that & what we had with Bayles?

This is one massive gamble by the board.

And I can have tem views but still support him when he finally takes over - which I will.
Meant attendance not budget.

How do you know they play crap football? In fairness very few of us know more then the square root of [SwearFilter] all about the potential managers styles/ethos. Even if they do is that not because he works with what hes got and the personel they've got allows that?

maybe, or maybe not, Give Skelton a Crack at it say for a month or 2.
You'll be lucky if he's there for more than an hour or two after Edmondson hands in his notice.

Suppose you won't want him either, once you realise he doesn't want to be there anymore.

It does seem a bit bizarre for a club in relegation trouble to part with their manager then appoint the manager of the club at the bottom. If we can't have a manager with a proven record of success, then I would prefer Meechan to be given a chance.

I agree with Jim. We are in the bottom 3. We have no money, We parted company with DB and have to pay him off.
We are on the verge of recruiting a manager from the same league (near the bottom) We will have to pay compensation.
If he brings Skelts with him, then thats more money.

Don't think we are making the right decision here chaps. All the good managers out there unemployed and we pick one we have to pay off !!!!

Can't see the sense in it. Maybe Jim is correct, Meecham until the end of season and hope he keeps us up.

I would be dissappointed if Skelton left, but let's face it you can't afford
Both of them, infact so far it looks like you can't afford edmo I mean you have had all day to agree compensation reg.

Why you bothered reg? I mean it's not like you watch your team any more is it?

Who said I was?

I'm just having fun.

I get that you don't want Edmondson but when Skelton leaves you for Barrow too, you'll be furious.

Ste, I get it, you don't mind the appointment of Edmo & as I said to someone the other day - I hope he makes me look foolish for my thoughts on him, but I just don't see it happening, I definitely don't see our gates improving but hey, he lives close so lets have him.

Ste Story wrote:How do you know they play crap football?
Having read their forum over the past few months out of mild interest & seeing the continual slating he gets off most of them, that's what I'm basing my thoughts on.
There forum looks like a mirror image of our own forum (but with about two thousand less members) two months ago. These are the people who have watched what he's done for six years so I'm guessing they know better than you, me the rest of us & our board what his football is like.

Because he's kept them in the Con North doesn't mean he's some sort of football god believe it or not.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Total joke if they give him the job.

Is he seriously the best candidate they have had?

This is the equivalent of Alex Ferg leaving Man U to join Man City, obviously without the talent.

Best of a bad bunch perhaps, but my point is and has been who's a better appointment? Im no board apologist atall but im waiting for someone to suggest who they would have appointed who's a better option.

Teams in the conference north just dont play good football and its as simple as that, why do people seen to think theirs some sort of purist total football advocate out their who would have us playing (and winning) with beautiful passing and moving tika taka football using bricklayers on 200quid a week and is about to knock on our door.

People need to realise the situation we're in and the pool we had to fish in for a new manager.

What was realistic?

Gary Lowe..decentish but what budget, always works in a pair far too expensive.

Alex Meechan- nice bloke, contacts were the ones who brought most of the current squad- nuff said really there.

John Cornforth??? Read the record

Matt Henney? Possible, but would he have wanted it- young family, good job, better close to home.

Doubtless Gary Brabin could have got us out of this division on 6000 a week, and even though Coleman was a canny operator,Accy had money at points in their rise, and he is frankly entitled to think he might get a job nearer home higher up.

Tommy Lawson would have been all right, Tommy Cassidy? Pfft.

So they have gone for someone with a bit of experience who is hungry to step up a touch and probably thinks he has the contacts to do it. With Skelts, a much better shout as welI. I don't expect anything beyond a Trophy/Cup run as far as the semis or the last 3 games before promotion will bring back crowds. We need to stabilise around 700 and crack on.
