Can somebody tell me what planet Dave Artell.lives on.In his interview he said they dominated the game for 90minutes.Ok I would give Grimsby the first half but thesecond half was totally different.He said both our goals were soft goals.Was he watching a different game?He then said that Crewe were a much better team than us but haven,t we just beaten them?He seems to think.we are an inferior club to them and we have no right to.go toe to toe with them.There is a guy who.is totally deluded.

A Doctor writes: This patient's side recently beat Man United so he may think he's up there with Arteta, Slot, Pep & Co. Being unable to defeat the mighty Barrow will have dented his ego without doubt. However it is a reality quite a few others have had to deal with of late with varying degrees of candour. My advice; keep taking the sour grapes and carry on.

We are now 7 league games unbeaten with 3 wins and 4 draws- 6 points from safety and 6 points from the play-offs- in 15th position after an action-packed game against Grimsby. Plenty of shots from both sides, if slightly more from the visitors, but in the end defensive and goalkeeping errors played a key part in the four goals which saw the points shared.

Grimsby are now in 5th place and seven of the starters saw off Manchester United in the second round of the League Cup on 27th August. These included goalkeeper Pym who had a game to forget today, although it does ram home the point it you don’t shoot you don’t score. We did today, and clawed back a point which seemed unthinkable after half an hour.

We were 2-0 down within 13 minutes and it seemed like that was only the start. Stanway, shielding his eyes against a low fierce sun, was not at his best for either goal but neither were the whole of our defence.

In the 7th minute we were one goal down. In a goalmouth scramble, an initial good block from Rose fell into the path of Kabia who shot from the left past Stanway,

Five minutes later we were on the attack. A Whitfield free-kick saw Pym grasp a header from Raglan. However, now over-committed in attack, seconds later we fell to a quick counter to Grimsby, Rodgers racing away and Green found himself on the right edge of the box with only Stanway to beat. He chipped the ball over the stranded keeper to stun Barrow with an early two goal deficit.

In the 22nd minute we had a penalty appeal turned down as a Shipley shot was blocked (handled?) in the Grimsby area.

Kabia went down injured in the 27th minute. Despite plenty of good football from the visitors, as the game progressed there also was a lot of falling over and looking for fouls too!

With Kabia back on his feet, he put in a very dangerous cross in the 33rd minute from the right which whizzed across our goal. Stanway then saved from Vernam.

In the 44th minute, when it looked like the best we could do was not concede further goals, Whitfield sent a ball to Harper just outside the area who let fly with a shot which squeezed under Pym’s diving body. After we survived further shots from Vernam, McJannet and Green in added time, it was half-time, and all to play for again!

Whing made two changes at the break, Canavan and Hemmings coming on for Jackson and Fletcher.

Within four minutes Harper had another opportunity, Pym managing to save his close-range header following a Mahoney free-kick.

The visitors also continued to threaten. Stanway saved from McJannet, then Khouri shot past the right post following a 55th minute corner.

Hemmings was carded in the 62nd minute for a foul on Rodgers. In the 66th minute a long-range Whitfield shot went past the right post.

We then replaced Mahoney with Adu-Poku as Grimsby brought on ex-Bluebird Eccleston for Svanthorsson.

Gordon was then booked for a foul on Khouri although many thought that should be the other way round!

Khouri then shot wide twice but in the 74th minute, McCann let fly with a shot from outside the box which Pym failed to save. We were level again!

In the 80th minute, A Gordon shot was blocked, then Newby was fouled on the edge of the area as it suddenly looked more likely we would grab an unlikely victory. Green was booked for the foul, but McCann’s free kick was blocked.

Sensing fresh legs were required, Grimsby replaced Rose, Vernam and Khouri with Amaluzor, Staunton and Walker in the 83rd minute.

Gordon then had another chance to grab a Bluebirds victory in the 89th minute but couldn’t quite get his leg sorted and missed to the right.

Five minutes of added time saw a shot from Amaluzor blocked and Newby booked but we held on for another important point to strengthen our mid-table league position.

McCann earned Barrow’s man of the match. Attendance was 3,159 including 336 visiting fans.

Given the number of appearances Warren has made in the EFL, it appears that people in the game think differently to you.

Plenty of players play in the football league that shouldn't be at the level that they're playing at, thats football. That being said if i was doing a team talk against grimsby I'd be picking him out as a weak link to get at

Defenders are coached to put their arms behind their backs in the penalty area to avoid 'hand-balls'. This defender had an outstretched arm and played the ball with his hand- PENALTY!

Sun looked like it was right in our eyes first half.. contributing factor to the decision making of stanway if he lost flight of the ball?

You don’t see many keepers wearing caps these days to shield their eyes from the sun. IIRC Farman borrowed one once from somebody in the Holker st end during one game

Grimsby should have put the player who made a great save in the first half in net. We must be coming up over 12 months without being given a penalty

Maybe that's because we struggle up front .

I totally agree. He was way too close for it to be given. Imagine the outrage if that was given against us. We would be fuming.
The referee was a late replacement yesterday but that’s two weeks In a row he has refereed Grimsby as he officiated in their 1st round FA cup tie last week

David artells interview has put smile on my face. Hilarious how many sides think they're above barrow. Did we deserve to win? No, could we have won towards the end? Yes. Any side starting tyrell warren is beatable in my eyes

You have to remember this man was born in Rotherham so like most Yorkshire people dour and tight.
He said a positive was last time they were pegged back to 2-2 they were beaten by Crewe who he said were a better side than Barrow I like it when they give a dig it's subconsciously trying to masquerade they were not up to it .
It will be interesting in if old mother Riley starts in goals for them next week.

It's the refereeing inconsistency that is so infuriating. In "the old days" I'd agree that wouldn't have been a penalty but I saw one given this week on television which was far less avoidable than yesterday's. The rules of the game now are:
...handball is an offence if a player deliberately touches the ball with their hand or arm, or if their hand/arm makes their body "unnaturally bigger" in the path of the ball, even if unintentional.
By that definition, penalty all day long.

It was Stanways ball all day, he starts to come, stops, hesitates and ends up in no mans land. Not guna knock him, hes been class and more ofter than not makes the correct choice (somewhere i was always criticle with Farman) but he will be disappointed with both those goals yesterday

We got an unlikely point yesterday with the way game started and our struggle to score goals. Whingy keeps saying in just about every pre match “There’s miles we can do better” and he's not wrong. We are 23 out of 24 in game possession stats and a very low shot on target in games ratio. Second lowest in the league on both these stats. Those two goals we scored yesterday we need to be trying more of those from the edge of the box.
