Help clearing snow tomorrow-can you help?

Post by bafcdirect » Mon Jan 21, 2013 7:11 pm

Barrow AFC are asking for volunteers to help clear snow from the pitch and terraces at Furness Bulding Society Stadium tomorrow morning to allow the FA Trophy Third Round tie with Gateshead to go ahead.

Following unforecasted prolonged snowfall on Monday afternoon, the pitch is now covered in a white blanket, but as long as there isnt a heavy frost overnight, the pitch should still be playable underneath as it was mid-morning on Monday.

Fans of Newport and Southport turned out in force to clear Rodney Parade and Haig Avenue on Saturday allowing the games to go ahead, so Barrow fans are now being urged to do the same.

The message is:
If you are free on Tuesday, please turn up to the ground from 10.30 am onwards armed with a shovel and ideally a wheelbarrow too and help get the first game at Holker Street for four weeks on.

The pitch will be assessed at 8am but no decision made until a formal inspection at 1pm.

When we played Wolves in 1959, the Grammar School allowed pupils out to help clear snow. I don't suppose the Academy would be willing to help........ ;)

I'm hoping to be working tomorrow, but as my work is dependent on the bins being empty I won't know until the morning. If biffa cancel ccollections I can help john.

I think there are one, perhaps two wheelbarrows in the maintenance area John. Spare key is in reception.

Sorry can't make it myself though.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

You know when you keep a bit of skirting board "just in case". Well 7 years later I've just attached it to an old broom handle and early commissioning trials indicate it does the job! Anyone want to give it a go. I can leave it out for collection. Please PM soon.

unfortunately, I'm at work tomorrow so can' t help out. Think the club need to advertise for
help on the Bay/radio Cumbria as there' s only limited numbers who read this forum. Newport had
over 100 people to clear their pitch , so I would imagine a similar number would be required.
