Do We Do Enough?
We called our game off today at 8am and while i no doubt it may of been frozen then i have no doubt by dinner time never mind 3pm it would of been playable,Southport today had the ref inspect every hour from 9am and gave it every chance and it was given the go ahead at 1pm,also the Macc game the other week was the same the ref was inspecting every hour up until 2pm when it was finally ok,so do we give ourselves enough time for the pitch to thaw out i can remember numerous times over the years when we have called games off only for 3pm to come around and it would of been perfect.

Re: Do We Do Enough?
It's a hard one to call Stu, yes it thawed quickly but could we have guaranteed a playable pitch? All that melted snow and ice would have made for a soggy pitch.
If Heed had set off we'd be incurring more expense. Whist i agree we probably could have waited, i wouldn't be the one to make that decision!

Hopefully the groundsman can give the pitch the once over before Tuesday. Not sure what sort of sate it will be in- but it hasn't been played on for a month now.

The groundsman was working on the pitch on Friday afternoon prior to the snowfall.
The pitch will be played on today (Sunday) by the Performance Centre kids U13's and the 11 yr olds. So what it will be like after they have been on it is anyone's guess.

Re: Do We Do Enough?
U13 performance centre game at Holker Street on Sunday has been cancelled as pitch is now flooded
Re: Do We Do Enough?
Is it not the safety of the travelling team that's considered also? I've no doubts the pitch would have been playable come three o clock

I can't see that Gateshead would have wanted to travel anyway. But I agree we don't give it long enough - however we some of the weather obsessed merchants of doom and gloom predicting games off three days before the game maybe we feel under pressure it call it too soon
