Good to see; will no doubt be updated far more regularly than the club shop

That's a great start. Just clicked on it at work and got this...

It's those BAFC pencils, I tell ya; careful, or you'll put your eye out!

Hmm. I think your workplaces filters might be ott. Could be caused by the social media plugins. If anyone else has issues please let me know.Arvo wrote:That's a great start. Just clicked on it at work and got this...

Re: New BDF online shop
Can anyone explain to me why the BDF run a shop selling club merchandise and the club runs a shop selling club merchandise?
With this season in mind, without any Martin Lewis in the club shop. Why not just let the BDF run the shop once and for all. The club has had the chance of running the shop this season and failed.
In my hometown club the equivilant of the BDF runs a merchandise shop on matchdays from a caravan outside the stadium. The shop inside the stadium is manned by staff from sports outlets from the towncenter on weekdays. I understand that this can not be done in Barrow, but i'm sure the BDF could man a stand at the ground on every game day, and let the BDF website take care of everything else.
This should give the club more time to sort out tickets, sponsorships and membership drives.
Win-Win... and while we are at it. Let the BDF sort out the replica kits please...

Re: New BDF online shop
We (Pete and I) would love to help the club by helping to improve the online shop on the official website and the shop in the ground on a matchday and hopefully we will get chance to have a word with Tony Keen about it after the meeting on Friday.
Some small improvements have already been made. The dreaded "please allow 14-21 days for delivery" phrase has been removed from the product descriptions and many older obselete items have been deleted too.
It really needs :
a) a good stock take in the physical shop to see what is actually there and in what amounts so that what is showing on the website is actually available. The accuracy of some items is likely to be way out at the moment.
b) a rethink on postage prices given the changes made by Royal Mail recently and the fact that a one size fits all items policy is probably quite offputting to potential customers who only want a small item
and finally c) a complete refresh of the way the page looks.
All of this will take time and a degree of trust from the board to achieve, but hopefully by the start of the new season we'll have been able to make the changes and provide a more attractive offering both in terms of the way the site looks and the range of goods on it, which will appeal to the fans and hopefully generate more sales and provide more vital income for the club.
www.bdfsoccershop.com links in to our ebay operation and the t-shirt site Pete as tied in with, providing the widest range of Barrow AFC merchandise available in one place.
More items will be added soon including autographed balls and some old programmes.

Re: New BDF online shop
The sensible thing would be if we can't afford a commercial manager to hand the running of the Club shop over to The BDF with JM or someone connected to the board overseeing it. Not to say there hasn't been good work from other volunteers in the club shop btw. The BDF money goes into the club. The club money goes into the club. Surely it is not beyond the wit of man to combine the two.

Somethng for all AFC fans, especially those out of town exiles. Football cards are now available on http://www.bdfsoccershop.com - pay £20 for the card and sell all 40 spaces around your local pub/workplace. You get your £20 back and the winner gets £20 too.
We are your club, you are it's future!

On a practical level this may seem sensible, however there could be VAT and tax issues to consider. Not to say it cant work if people want it to though. Matchdays would seem simple but could/would the bdf do it through the week?
Some people really do need to think a bit more before they post things on here
