Gala Day - and the damage to the pitch

I realise the Gala Day brings in much needed income to the club but having never been can someone enlighten me. Is it held on the pitch ?
If so, I hate to imagine the damage it could do to the playing surface if it's held on a wet day.

It has always been and it shouldn't be IMO. It isn't good for the pitch.
This year I wonder if it's held up maintenance.
I really like the kids/community etc using the club and fair play to the organisers but I really think they should either move the date to much earlier in the summer or not do it on HS.

Be doing a little write-up on the GMA thread later about this. Don't think it'll answer the question posed in the OP though.

Let's just hope then it doesn't rain that weekend because I hate to think how it could effect the pitch. A worthy event, but it's being held at the wrong time. It should be held in the week after the season finishes along with all the Junior Cup Finals

This should pose no problem for our groundsman, who I believe also does the pitch at Fleetwood.

Totally agree(glad yousaid it first!)
They are only starting on the pitch this week! So whoever made this decision should have a rethink! For the sake of a few quid we risk wrecking the playing surface hate this statement but"tinpot!)
We have experts from Liverpool now sorting out the surface what will they make of this? (if they know!)

If we really are aiming for a top class pitch then i'm sorry- These galas are going to have to stop. June is the time of year when new seed will be germinating, it should be being watered daily so the seed doesn't dry out and certainly not being walked all over and driven over by ice cream vans for galas.
Groundsman will be doing his nut.

I. Would rather have the experts view of what damage could be caused to the surface of the pitch! Rather than yours (Anthony) or any lay persons view sorry if you are offended but they are the professionals!

Apparently next year there's going to be one week's grace after the season ends for any local matches and then the pitch is going to be off limits and BLITZED. Full make over by experts that do the Premiership clubs pitches.

so very sorry Mr Perfect. when questions are asked please try to ask them direct to the experts. i agree i am no expert on pitches Mr Blue but i have been present at every gala day held at Holker st, so i can say for a fact that there is NO DAMAGE CAUSED TO THE PITCH dear boy. and no i am not offended hahaha. how can anyone be offended by a keyboard
have a walk down th the ground on sunday 22nd and see for yourself. it will only cost you £1.
