Not often dreams become a reality is it. Practically a new stadium then. has to be backed up by people through the turnstiles but if we are successful I'm sure they will return as we are seeing already with the first two games.
long my it continue.

long my it continue.

Re: 5year ground development plan
This is just the news the town needs.it's mind numbing really!
After architects have submitted their plan's there will be a month's. consultation period (so all the luddites can say how awful this is and how the atmosphere etc will be ruined!)
Hope I'm not in a coma and this is all a dream!

Re: 5year ground development plan
All sounds good if it comes off. Personally I would rather have more standing than seating and on a personal sentimental note i will be sorry to see the poplar side stand go. Yes its not the best but hey ho it doesn't fit in with up to date grounds
everyone is entitled to their opinion, deal with it
Re: 5year ground development plan
Brilliant news but wait for the planning objections from the owners of the new houses on holker street when we want to put a roof on Holker Street end!!!

I doubt that surely having a new structure/roof would reduce the chances of the ball hitting your Windows etc let's be happy about this and be positive it's the constant negativity of people around here that stops people investing!gbraider wrote:Brilliant news but wait for the planning objections from the owners of the new houses on holker street when we want to put a roof on Holker Street end!!!

Yes, the articles in today’s Evening Mail do indeed take the breath away. Over the last twenty or thirty years there must have been two, perhaps three, occasions when sensationalist Evening Mail headlines have been broadcast unveiling Barrow’s planned and futuristic “new stadium” (on the back of exactly what financing I wouldn’t know).
This time, courtesy of our owner, it will hopefully be far more than pie-in-the-sky nonsense.
At first the only aspect of the plans that didn’t seem to make sense to me was the idea that the Crossbar would be left till last but of course, on reflection, as that is the end with facilities (bar, changing rooms, offices etc) it is entirely logical that the other stands would have to be incorporated first to house these necessary facilities before we can finally wave goodbye to the eyesore that is the Crossbar. The article shows that PC recognises this fact as he says it is the only end of the ground that he is currently completely unhappy with.
The other stand-out aspect of the news story is that PC recognises the future use of the stadium as a 7-day a week facility which will be extensively utilised for a whole range of events, thus bringing in revenue and also drawing in the community to a rounded appreciation and awareness of the ground as a hub central to that community.
It all sounds good, all we need now is patience which can be difficult to muster when there’s a lot of excitement in the air.
