Key moments of the season

Post by Jonty » Sat Apr 25, 2015 6:25 pm

What a season for all at the club. WHAT A SEASON! The scenes of celebration coming back from Lowestoft at 5pm - CHAMPIONS! Absolutely on cloud nine! It's going to be a great party tonight, and tomorrow and the next day! BBCRC interviewing young Bahamasbluebird after the game- "I've got half an hour then I'm going back to Qatar but it's all worth it" - Andy Wood- "You better go and get your pint then" absolutely brilliant! Our away support is outstanding. Credit to AFC Fylde who have pushed us all the way, one week the title going their way, then back to us and finally down to the last game and then the last 5 minutes with so much at stake. Well it wouldn't be any other way would it! :scarf: :scarf:

Looking back at results and key moments of the season- If you have to pick out season defining moments what would they be-

The 3-2 win at Guiseley. They threw everything at us second half and we dug in playing most of the second half with 10 men and got the points. A fantastic win.

Cook's late penalty at Boston.
Taylor's save at Worcester as mentioned above.
Clinging on to that 3-2 lead at Guiseley with 10 men.

All ifs and buts, and thankfully we are on the correct side of it.

Any of the numerous wins by a single goal, how many of them have we had? I'll toss a coin over one of the Stockport games, 1-0 goal of the season Howarth against Stockport at Holker St., a game that had 0-0 all over it and he pulled a result out of the hat.

The real reason we've won it though is form, consistently better if only just. Barrow have not suffered back to back losses at all over the season. Fylde suffered back to back defeats more than once. Looking at Fylde they really lost it when FC United knocked them out of the Trophy, they then suffered 3 straight league defeats to Chorley, Guiseley and Harrogate which put Barrow back in the driving seat. To me that was what won the title for Barrow. There isn't a team in the play-offs that have not beaten Fylde this season, they have every chance but I don't think they'll make it.

January 13th 2015.
1-0 down at home to Hednesford Town with 4 minutes to go.
Andy Cook converted a Nick Wilmer Anderton cross in the 86th minute followed by a Sam Sheridan free kick in the 89th minute to take all 3 points.

We did, but we beat them 1-0 at home with a Cook penalty in time added on in the second half.
