Fair enough, probably an attempt to sway his hand slightly, but hardly enforceable. If he turned up at training on the last day before the season starts we'd still sign him.

To much going on at Carlisle, problems with the Board etc.
He would want a move to a bigger club like Morecambe at least hey speak English rather than at Mara twang.

Hartlepool would probably make sense if the key thing is that he wants to stay in Ferryhill.

Pre contract might not mean he's going though, all depends on the t&cs of the contract. Good lever for him to use to negotiate other deals maybe
