Google says:

In most private companies allotment and issue will be the same process. A company may allot shares when it is first set up or at any time during its lifetime in order to raise share capital and/or introduce new shareholders. Issuing shares is a more complex procedure than many would expect.

He has issued the company 250000 extra shares. There has to be a statement of capital investment when shares are issued. I don't know why he has issued more shares, perhaps he is looking for some capital investment.

Maybe this has something to do with tax relief he is obtaining in the USA against his investment in Barrow AFC .
Boris Johnson our Foreign Secretary who was a dual national till last year made a profit on his UK property and was liable for tax in excess of 50000 dollars .Boris renounced his US citizenship to prevent the IRS making a claim on the profit.

There were already 600,000 shares.
Added to these now are a further 2,500,000 (not 250,000) making a grand total of 3,100,000.

So are we to assume he's invested £2.5million?

Not necessarily, the shares have a nominal value of £1 each, its an arbitrary figure. It could actually be set higher or lower than this and does not necessarily reflect either the value of the company or the value of money invested in it, although it can.

Its the share premium or market value of shares which would reflect the worth of the business. The nominal value of the shares is largely irrelevant.

If there's been an allotment of shares, he has invested money into the company - probably in line with the comments about how the floodlights will be funded.

This is different to a loan and marks a change in the way the business has been financed before from what I can see.

He seems to be separating how he is funding capital investment (e.g. longer term infrastructure projects) compared to the day to day running of the club.

I haven't looked at it closely but might he just be capitalising his loans?
It all comes 'round again.

He will be giving us the option of buying the club back. Well done a former member of this forum
