Our Manager

Wonder what those on here, who constantly speculate he’s gonna get every job out there that becomes available, think now, the heat is on, and his decisions are questionable, and he’s buckling under the pressure. Are those bigger clubs still bashing the door down, I’m not so sure.

He's certainly a long way short of Evatt's calibre both tactically and in the type of football his teams play.

On Contract till end of 2026/27 season unless he hands in his resignation which is unlikely and can't see the BOD having the money to sack him along with Adam Temple who is on same length of contract.

Don't you think sacking would be somewhat extreme for a small club which will finish in the top half of the league? If you compare him with most of the managers we've had following Evatt, I would suggest even after this disastrous end of the season, he's done a relatively good job even though I don't like his style of football.

Small club?? We are where we should be with our budget and it would be catastrophic if we don’t make the play offs

Well it'll probably be catastrophic then, can't see any chance of us beating Mansfield on our current run of form/confidence/self belief, even if Mansfield have one eye on the beach, they'll still have too much for us.
For me, the season started to fizzle away from the Wrexham away game, not won away since Crewe & very patchy home form to go with it.
1 pt out of the last 18 says it all really.
To think we've been in the play off positions since November.

Certainly wouldn’t be sacking him but hopefully year 3 of the 3 year plan includes a genuine Plan B rather than just chucking different/more strikers on and hoping for the best. And if we are sticking with this formation we need proper wing backs rather than lads doing a job out of position, in this formation it’s such a key position and we don’t have a “proper” one on either wing

His substitutes and in game management have been shocking of late, his inability or stubbornness to change shape, ultimately has been a big factor. We’ve got to many players playing in positions they’re not accustomed too
Which is never a good long term plan. I’m really not sure where I stand on wild at the moment, I’m fuming at what’s happened to the team in bottling the play offs and perhaps even automatics but I’ve really enjoyed the good times and the environment he’s created. The two years he’s been here we’ve had 2 very good half seasons and 2 really bad halves.

I imagine the board will have a big say in what happens next because it doesn’t strike me as a squad that’s been assembled on the cheap, an inquest needs to begin and a lot of questions need to be asked. Very scary how a team that looked almost bulletproof a few months ago can be this bad. Whatever happens now a huge rebuild needs to start

We only have a decent budget in a big part due to a former Barrovian doing well in the states and helping out massively, which won’t last forever.

At the qna it was mentioned that even Morecambe generate way more income than us, via more hospitality space etc.

It’s been one of the toughest and highest budget league 2 in a long time (even FGR spent 200k more in agent fees than we did) if we get 5.5k on Saturday that’s 10k in a week attendance which is fantastic given the local population compared to other teams.

At least we still have a small sliver of hope and something still to play for, Spence has been on of the best players this season and he wouldn’t have even come here if it wasn’t for Wild.

With 1 game left Pete still doesn't know his best starting line up on Saturday he will have a full squad with Ray now available, taking the dog for a walk while I try to work out my best starting line-up. :scarf:

Aye not the time for the topic given we still have a chance, will put that down to frustrated minds, but it shouldn't be shied away from that some tough questions will need asking if we don't make it.
Popular side since '03.
