It's an excellent interview. The stark reality is that without any new investment in the next couple of years we wont be be able to compete financially in EFL2

I heard some of it. I wasn't happy to hear him comment on players wages. He stated that to acquire decent players in EFL Div 2 clubs are now expected to pay 3/4 grand a week salaries. He didn't seem optimistic regarding the club being able to do so.

That's the going rate these days fuelled by greedy agents wanting more than there fair share of TV money from last years new deal for their clients. £150 - £200k a year for a decent league two player is obscene but whilst the likes of MK Dons, Chesterfield, Notts County plus a few others and in non league Forest Green and Carlisle to name just 2 in national league continue to drive up wages that's what we are up against.

Every time I hear the board speak I’m grateful for what they’re doing for the club. I was going to say I can’t believe an idiot would make that kind of remark after the Carlisle game but sadly common sense seems to go out of the window following a defeat. Thank the Lord the board don’t listen to the “noise” and stick to a longer term plan. Everything he said made sense and has given me hope for the future. Keep up the good work chaps, it’s much appreciated by the majority of the fan base.

Just do the maths and you will understand why, and it will be worse if we get promoted.

They are doing a fantastic job. Without them we wouldn't have a club.

I just caught that bit in the car as I was parking up on Tuesday night and could not believe my ears. What an utter numpty - the sort who are only here for the ride and would soon disappear at any downturn in the club's fortunes. Maybe you could put it down to drink but there is something fundamently wrong with this so-called supporter and we would be better off without him in our midst. Keep up the great work Paul & Co we are right behind you 100%.

That's why we are with Accrington, Harrogate, Newport, Barnet yes Barnet performing miracles each season. Not sure about the financial resources of Fleetwood, Walsall and maybe Shrewsbury who have some financial issues. But bottom line is simple we need to keep to our model and hope in some way somebody or some organisation will be able to inject some money into our club.

Interesting note down here in Altrincham Sale Sharks owners are getting involved with Alti so interesting to see how that develops.

Meanwhile the EFL and Premier League have still yet to agree a deal after an initial proposal to hand the EFL an extra £900million over six years fell through. I don't know where things are with that, but when you listen to the Chairman repeat that the owners are shoring up the operating costs themselves (ie floodlights upgrade, pitch work), it’s crucial for small clubs like us that this gets resolved.

What’s the answer? club’s seeking additional investment,… or sitting tight for the PL to hand over more of their TV money? Would that improve sustainability, or would it just drive up wages and transfer fees? It would after all, be the same “player pool” that would be out there. Agents would have a field day.

You only have to do a quick bit of research to see the mind boggling amount money at the top end of football. Even the Championship and half the EFL now is a crazy amount of money. Players on £10k a week. Thats half a million a year wages on someone no one has heard of outside of their own club. EFL teams going cash crazy chasing promotion with unsustainable budgets.

League 2 is tough for a club our size, but I reckon surviving in National League would harder. If we drop out the EFL, we’d struggle in national League. There is no money in that league.

When I listen to Paul Hornby my emotions are like a roller coaster I'm just about feeling despondent and then he throws a beacon of hope and re assurance ,
To be honest I just wish I could help them out !, perhaps one of us will win the lottery!

Good interview, disgusting whoever told him to “fk off out our club” at the end of the Carlisle game, clearly whoever it was doesn’t understand irony or the fact that people aren’t queuing up to buy the club, would literally be Morecambe and out of business if we lost the present investors.

My own view is that unless we attract new investment in the next two years we will be lucky to avoid relegation back to the National league
