Overnight frost
Overnight frost
My garden looks to be frozen overnight here in Barrow.
I suspect there will be a pitch inspection required?
Thoughts anyone?

Re: Overnight frost
Hopefully the frost covers were put on but if they were not then the popular side part of the pitch is going to need some serious thawing before 3.00pm
Re: Overnight frost
Yes, thats what I was thinking. There's always that bit of the turf that never gets enough sunshine to thaw out in time.

Re: Overnight frost
If there is an announced pitch inspection I think it will be off. A few years back it used to be 50/50 with an inspection but nowadays it seems like it’s almost always off when there is an inspection
Re: Overnight frost
Temperature earlier was -3C but already up to +1 so should be ok unless our recent policy of postponing for no reason kicks in
Just say no to VAR
Re: Overnight frost
If that is indeed the case, why weren't they put on, this frost was forecast days ago. Gives a ref an outside chance to call it off again (if he doesn't fancy it
Re: Overnight frost
If they are going to announce a pitch inspection then get on with it.
Got to think about the Colchester supporters travelling!

Re: Overnight frost
Just been past holker street. There’s a curling team getting off a bus. Must be using the pitch for the day
Re: Overnight frost
About to drive up from Manchester in next half hour - cold here but beginning to warm up will keep my eye on forum for further updates
Re: Overnight frost
I didn't cover my lawn with tarp which I usually do in these temperatures. So I can understand why the club didn't cover the pitch.
Popular side since '03.
Re: Overnight frost
Just rang the club and they said theres no talk of any pitch inspection and everything should be OK

Re: Overnight frost
One nights frost wasn't going to postpone the game. It's a good job it's not windy though
