Looking forward to the World Cup in June? Well, why don’t you try your hand at predicting the scores, and eventual World Champions in our competition.

Once again, Barrow AFC have kindly provided the first prize.

Prizes

First – 4 x Hospitality Tickets to home game at "So Legal" Stadium 2026/27 and signed Barrow AFC Shirt (2025/26 squad)
Second – £40
Third - £20

Rules
£3 per entry or £5 for 2 entries
Scoring:
All Matches
Correct result 2 point
Correct result & score 5 points

Example: England 1 Iran 0

If you have predicted 1-0, you will get 5 points for the right result and score
If you have put 3-0, you will get 2 points for the right result
If you have put 1-1 or 0-1 etc. you will get 0 points
Predict 2nd & 3rd Round, Quarter Finalists, Semi-finalists, Finalists and the Winner :

5 points for each correct team into 2nd Round (last 32)
5 points for each correct team into 3rd Round (last 16)
10 points for each correct Quarter Finalist.
15 points for each correct Semi Finalist.
20 points for each correct Finalist.
25 points for correct 3rd Place team
30 points for the Winner.

Just 3 weeks until the World Cup commences!

As the qualification from the group stages at this year's World Cup is more complex than previous tournaments, I have tried to clarify how entries to our predictions competition will work.

The qualification from FIFA's rules are;

The eight best teams among those ranked third will be determined as follows:

Greatest number of points obtained in all group matches
Goal difference resulting from all group matches
Greatest number of goals scored in all group matches
Highest team conduct score (players and team officials) relating to the number of yellow and red cards obtained in all group matches

The two or more teams still on equal points shall be ranked according to the most recent published edition of the FIFA Coca-Cola Men's Workd Ranking.

Our entry form has slots for the eight 3rd place teams. As the specific places for these 8 teams may not be decided until the completion of the group stage, it will be difficult to precisely put 3rd teams in the correct positions on the entry form.

Therefore, the following apply.

Points are awarded for teams progressing to the Last 32 irrespective of which precise position they finish in the group (this has always been the case for our World Cup and European Championship competitions).

Points for the Last 32 games themselves will be awarded on their merit. Whatever teams are included in the fixtures R32A to R32P on your entry form will be used for the fixtures even if one the third place teams you selected is in a different fixture of the Last 32. For example, for game 32C, if you select "Winner Group E" as Germany and "3rd A/B/C/D/F" as South Africa but the team for that fixture ends up being Scotland, then the GAME SCORE will be assessed as Germany v Scotland meaning you are not disadvantaged for which Last 32 games you select 3rd place qualifying teams for.

Apologies for late reply. I did ask the previous media person (Ernie) to upload the Excel version as well as PDF. I will try the new lady and see if she can upload it.

It has always been the case for Euros and WC competitions we have run in predicting knockout match winners up to the Champion. We introduced the predicting knockout game scores right up to the final from the last World Cup to add a bit more interest.

Agree it is a little more effort, especially now there is a larger number of teams and hence more games, but hopefully keeps the interest going.
