they might not want him, but certianly cant afford to sack him, so if barrow want him the have to buy him out of his contracts. Otherwise unfortunatley he is stuck with us till the end of the season.

We'll get them both, it's your board playing silly buggers to cause maximum difficulty for us. Statements from one section of the board on the site going against your chairman, then withdrawn  Even more tinpot than we are.

Some of your message board want to go get Bayles, Henney's a traitor apparently and someone from Stoke appears to have some sort of weird messianic complex- fair cheered me up reading it.

I agree though, just let him go and we can both get on with saving our miserable seasons.

Sounds like a situation where a compromise would be best for all parties.

You may well end up with a token gesture type payment but no way would you get anywhere near the amount you might expect if you actually wanted to keep hold of him.

Both boards have handled this in an incredibly amateurish was and it's little surprise that both clubs are such a shambles when you look how the men at the top conduct business.

We are in a situation where we have created a detailed criteria for the role of manager and how said person will work to push the club forward. As already alluded to, this will include closer work with the development squad, schools and the local area as a whole. We carried out interviews with some candidates, all of which were excellent and had their own merits.

As well as looking at those who applied formally it was decided we would look at other managers who hadn't applied but may fit our criteria. The subsequent press coverage is out of our hands.

I can't say much more than that unfortunatly, other than to say we've all spent a fair few man hours this week trying to get the situation closed out and start a new chapter for the club. I'm personally very excited by the plans we have in place and i look forward to presenting them at a meet the manager night which will be arranged as soon as the situation is sorted.

I know thats not telling a lot, but its all i can say at the moment.

To be honest I don't think it has been handled very well, even if you cant stop things being leaked do you honestly think after interviewing five candidates then deciding to look elsewhere is professional, get real its been badly handled and you should admit it.

Heard from a reliable source that 32 would be managers applied for the job, they drew up a short list of five for interview from which none were suitable. This forum presumes Meechan was one of them, who were the other four?. Darren Edmondson should not have been one of them, because they never asked Wukky if they could speak to him till thursday, if he was one of the five, it would be an illegal approach which could get the club into a lot of trouble.

When you interview people for important jobs, letters, cvs, references only give half the story. The interview is a major part of the process. I don't see the fact that 5 were interviewed and none appointed as tinpot etc. I've been there (obviously in a different set of circumstances) and seen the strongest paper candidate drop because of interview and the weakest come up. I don't think that this part of the process has been badly done. It is just part of the process of getting the best, right person.

I thought they interviewed Karl McCauley, Meeks, Gary Lowe and Edmo. Who were the other/others? :?

The board (somewhat ironically given the model of the last 5 years but hey ho) hopefully tried to get the candidates to explain how they could reconnect with the local community and give some commitment to youth.I also think that we were more transparent about having no money so people like Coleman wouldn't fancy it, perhaps after an initial enquiry.

I can't imagine Edmo not being able to answer that community question better than the other three.

This of course is supposition.

I thought the same Steve but while just having a quick look at the Wukkie forum (I needed cheering up & to know there was a club in a worse state than us) I noticed one poster has put something along the lines of "he's not that into the community thing & doesn't bother with their youth set-up"

So he's either bluffed our board at the interview or he's coming here a changed man!
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Yep, I know the post you mean. Hope that's not the case.

I still would like (well like is maybe a bit too strong :? ) him over those other 3, given the current situation.
