Does anyone actually know who was interviewed, other than those at the club?

From what I can tell the club have not said anything to indicate who they have talked to, they have refused to reveal anything as they said they would when they first advertised the post. All the noise about it has been coming from the press (read NWEM), people on this forum and someone at Workington that made a big mistake pre-empting something that had not happened by putting it on their website.

Workington have put their own manager in a no win position with their fans, damned if he stays, damned if he leaves for Barrow. Walsh on Saturday was priceless, stating pre-match (as far as he was concerned) they were awaiting compensation. Then post match interviewing his own clubs manager and pressing him on whether he had taken the Barrow job. Refusing to answer the question, instead pointing at the statement on their website which had made it very difficult for him to get on with his job.

What a mess.

On the point about applications if we want a manager who's already in a job to be considered for an interview we have to speak with the club who employ that manager which is what we did with Wukkie. We've interviewed people who'd applied and people we'd approached and presumably chose the best candidiate. Having said that Darren Edmondson was so keen to leave Wukkie he'd have only needed to read the various press reports from our club to see what type of manager we wanted and sell himself accordingly.

If we approach Workington to speak to him and ask for him to be released from his contract he would most likely get a pay-off.The way you describe it he'd get nothing.
Perhaps it may be DE's renumeration and/or compensation which has been the problem, may be easier after tonight if their chairman has gone.

If hes announced tomorrow, only gives him 4 days to reorganise Saturdays dross so looking at a minor miracle to get something out of the trophy game Saturday but It would still be good going there knowing a new era beginning if new manager installed...also this debacle is catching the ground maintenance thread up in pages!!!!!

From the online News and Star:

The 81-year-old made the shock announcement at the club's annual meeting at Borough Park tonight.

Dobie has been on the board for 14 years and has been chairman since 2007.

During that time he has ploughed thousands of pounds into the club to ensure its future.

Dobie originally offered his resignation in May but stayed on after being unable to find a buyer.

A new-look board was announced in June as Glenn Heathcote was made director and Don Blackwell associate director.

Dobie said his decision to step down was not an easy one but admitted the unrest surrounding manager Darren Edmondson's future was a factor.

The former pharmacist admitted he was the only director who wanted to keep the 42-year-old ex-Carlisle United defender at the club.

He added: "I like to think I served the club with honour and loyalty.

"It was not an easy decision to make but I have left the club in a stable position."

That should clear the way for no compensation to be paid.

They have screwed themselves over.

Uncle Peter wrote: We are in a situation where we have created a detailed criteria for the role of manager and how said person will work to push the club forward. As already alluded to, this will include closer work with the development squad, schools and the local area as a whole.

I'm personally very excited by the plans we have in place and i look forward to presenting them at a meet the manager night which will be arranged as soon as the situation is sorted.
While this is something many have longed for & for many a year (myself included) I fear its taken that long for the bods to finally consider this action, I fear they have left it too late or was it the only remaining option as all else seems exhausted ?

Its obvious that many long standing die hards have finally had enough and lost the feeling they carried for the club.

It takes far longer to regain the love/trust when you feel you have been let down or taken for an accepting fool, but to be let down repeatedly by these incumbents will take forever to get back to the numbers needed to run the club on an even keel, so even this new era will probably fail unless the Keen's remove themselves from the club to at least give the club a fighting chance.

I don't understand why but this to me this situation feels even worse than the SV dark days.

How the supporters still allow this bod to hold all the cards amazes me, how many lies, mishaps, unlucky situations, dodgy decisions, FA fines, late AGM'S, Wasted money, Feasibility fiasco, Manager trying to fight supporters then lie about it, late accounts, Now this Manager fiasco & kept in the dark on just about every decision they make ""on your behalf"' Can you keep on letting them get away with.

When is enough really enough, they are killing our club from within.

Depressed Rant over

There is an article about the chairman stepping down on the Workington site.

So how does this change negotiations for Edmondson, or does it?

If this happened, all Workington would have to do is refuse to accept his resignation, and BAFC would have to buy out his contract (or offer compensation), and it could be a few bob, as Edmondson was contracted until June 2014.

I heard a crack yesterday that the club or new chairman should I say was willing to let edmo walk away for nothing, with certain conditions attached.
