Re: Edmo Gone
Im sorry that Edmo has gone in such a public way- him being effectivly put on a months redundancy notice by PC. But something needed to be done, the football was painful to watch ...
Hopefully, Edmondson's successor, (Cox, or whomever is appointed) can inject some 'football ' into the side and they can strengthen in some much needed areas to turn the season around.
All the best for the future Edmo.

Re: Edmo Gone
In the end he couldn't change things around, whether the next man can get more out of this set of players and get them playing a system that is both attractive and gets results- we'll have to see. Not without a few changes on the playing side.
Whoever comes in needs to be a bit more of a disciplinarian, be seen to be in charge and transfer passion into the team. I think Paul Cox sounds like he could be the man.

Re: Edmo Gone
Shame for Edmo, I think the club owe him an enormous debt of gratitude.
I've never met him, but the impression he leaves with me is that he's capable, honest and a decent bloke. I personally wish him the very best.
Now upward and onward. Total support for the team, criticism for the lazy players, and hoping the new manager will be excellent.
I hope he's given the dosh to get in 3 or 4 players in January.
I hope the footy is more attractive.
I hope the players really play for him.
It's encouraging that he has experience in this league, and was successful.
He ought to be able to spot a player.

Re: Edmo Gone
Long time lurker and Manchester exile who never manages to get to games but everything I've read here suggests he was a thoroughly decent bloke who in this league appears to be out of his depth.
So as an exile I say thanks for everything he's done and wish him luck for the future.
Imo, Casson now needs to push for a manager with league 2 experience so that he can push us on and be ready for the step up.
Consolidate for the remainder of the season. Remove and replace the deadwood in January and push for above mid table next year with a hope for playoffs. Promotion could be the target the year after.

Thanks for the memories Edmo. Better now than dragging it on.
Time to get right behind Cox and push hard up the table.

Re: Edmo Gone
Malcolm Crosby has gone from Gateshead as well, perhaps a bit more surprising than Edmo leaving although they did lose 4-1 at home against a team with ten men yesterday.

Re: Edmo Gone
Gateshead Manager gone now as well
Re: Edmo Gone
Shame to see him gone as I can't fault his commitment but ultimately the players weren't behind him and once that happens there is no going back and you're never going to progress.
He has my thanks for his efforts especially the title last year and will no doubt get a job elsewhere, especially with a CN winner's medal.
The correct decision in the end but the way it was dealt with left a bit of a bad taste. I hope Casson reviews his expectations before relaying them to Cox, or whoever comes in.

Struggling to clarify the various trains of thought i'm having about all this - think Bluey VIII sums it up best.

I wouldn't be to optimistic we still have the same shite bunch of "players"blooberd wrote:Thanks for what you achieved Edmo but its the right decision.
Onwards and upwards starting saturday - I expect a bigger crowd and a bit of a buzz - such is football

Re: Edmo Gone
We do mate, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that they all mysteriously start performing better now that they are playing with a bit of fear for their place in the team (and their place on our fat pay roll) - I see Ant Wilson suddenly found a new lease of life under new management (deeply disappointed with him by the way)...walney rock wrote:I wouldn't be to optimistic we still have the same shite bunch of "players"blooberd wrote:Thanks for what you achieved Edmo but its the right decision.

I do agree that there needs to be big changes in January though. Thin the squad to a smaller size and up the quality.
We apparatly have a very healthy budget, why not be optimistic?

Lets just see what happens with a new manager before we pin 100% blame on them.walney rock wrote:I wouldn't be to optimistic we still have the same shite bunch of "players"blooberd wrote:Thanks for what you achieved Edmo but its the right decision.

Yes fingers do need to be pointed at some of them but sometimes you have to take into consideration that tactics and being asked to play a certain way all the time can leave you limited.
A new manager and change of direction can often bring a new lease of life to people. Look at when edmo kept us up for example.
Onwards and upwards as they say.
