I agree with a lot of a former member of this forum's points but we did the right thing and it's hardly all doom and gloom.
The other thing is PC has put a lot into not very exciting but necessary parts of the club, things like the boiler, stand painting etc that Iain lists, . Folk get paid, although like most football clubs I bet we don't always pay quickly which will irritate the life out of small businesses.
Also the club is making some investment with the Performance Centre. Coaches are paid for by parental contributions (I disagree with that but it's fairly common everywhere else too) but all the rest, transport, kits, hire of pitches etc has seen more investment, with some grants applied for and some contributions from the Trust/Youth Raffle supporting this. There's lots of different opportunities with kids, the community side are doing well, also supported by grants here and there.
It's been said a lot before but a lot of what PC thought would be easy, due to land issues, structural issues, planning issues are harder than they appeared. That's why we have the 'strategy' we have, which to me is decent investment in wages, fix what needs done urgently off the park, try and improve the marketing (patchy) and community (better) sides of the club. The trouble is none of that is likely to get a head of steam up in the town (less bothered) and is also not the brave new dawn we were all told, which makes the people who care about the club way too much (ie regular fans) nervous. This then breeds negativity which washes around the area like the shite that never makes it out of Walney Channel out to sea.
So, although I agree about the issues, can we not make a bit more effort to at least enjoy some facts just now? Near play offs, trophy quarters and third round of FA Cup. It is possible to be happy without being a happy clapper.
