Or perhaps asking some people to be positive instead of negative is going a stage too far!

Which is EXACTLY what Mr Casson did by pumping in his money!
He may well be pumping money in but that doesn't mean its being spent in the right areas ensuring the club has a future. Increasing the playing budget massively is a temporary measure and itll bring temporary high points. There isn't much evidence to suggest without this money being "pumped in" we would be able to hold our own , especially on crowds which are the same as they have been for years.
Just close your eyes for a second, take a deep breath and imagine Casson pulling his money at midnight tonight. How would the club pay the playing staff on crowds of 11-12 hundred odd?
What happens if next year he spends a load again on bringing in players but it doesn't really work out and we do a bit of a Braintree or an Eastleigh. We don't know whats going to happen in the future which is why I (and others seem to be starting to) believe we need to start looking at where we want to be in 5 years time.
At the moment its a bit like buying a F1 car, upgrading the engine each year to make it faster but failing to plan to change the tires or fill it with fuel.

This is it, with him being away most of the time and no one really at the club in any capacity to announce or sort anything out then its all very quiet.
The club needs a general manager in place or failing that an actual Chief Exec.

I suggest him and the board start seriously considering a 5 year plan because the silence is deafening.
Id further suggest he employ some business/sales people at the club to replace his family members who have been here on what I can only imagine is work experience.
If the club could buy some imagination and initiative then things would be a lot rosier.

Keyword being "expensive". These things need to be paid for and with crowds the same then where does the money come from? How long can that go on for?

Re: Floodlights
How much will it cost to replace the floodlights, are we taking the old ones down straight away or leaving them up for a while, if work starts after the last home game we don`t have long before the new season starts the National league starts same day has the football league August 6th so any delays will lead to home games being switched, so no local finals or gala`s this close season, if we delay for another season will the old lights be up to National League standard we could end up like many years ago with the speedway sort your pitch out or get out of our league, no lights no league to play in.
Re: Floodlights
There is a lot of blunt reality in a former member of this forum's posts. If PC did pull the plug tomorrow we'd sink down the leagues and fans always need to have sight of this. Maybe we fans need to start thinking about the costs of running this football club and what is needed to compete at the top end. Our crowds aren't great, yet just 250 more full paying adults for each of the remaining home games this season would bring in an extra £24.5k in gate money. That's going to help.
Then there's the Trust. Is it beyond thinking that maybe the Trust can partner the club with fundraising to assist with some of the ground improvements required for league status grading. Tranmere fans raised £32k in less than 30 days on crowdfunder to go towards the playing budget. Let's see us do something similar? Could we help raise money towards the cost of the new floodlights, for example?

He does, and an accomplished gentleman called Austin Straker, he's the club's CEO.The Real Slim a former member of this forum wrote:I for one suggest Casson employs a general manager at the club for whilst he is away. Or an actual Chief Exec.

I know who Austin is, Ive met him on a few occassions. He is a retired teacher who ran a sunday league side in the 80s. When I say an actual chief exec I mean someone who has some business background, someone who has some imagination, someone to take the club forward rather than just do the (very) basic operations.
Emma is a good start. From what Ive seen and what I hear she does some good work.
She now needs someone alongside her who isn't a volunteer who will work towards targets set by Emma.

It's not quite as easy as that - I worked in Sales/Marketing for a few years. However, you do make a valid point! The Real Slim a former member of this forum wrote:Ralph wrote: He does, and an accomplished gentleman called Austin Straker, he's the club's CEO.

INNOVATION is the key to Sales. Unfortuately, we don't seem to have too many innovative ideas...
Not all doom and gloom though. The 2 games for 21.00 is a good start. Used by many clubs to good effect!

Quorn weren't a Sunday League side.
I believe Straker fits the bill as the club's CEO, I've found him very helpful and professional, and in discussions with others who have had dealings with him, never heard a quirky word about Straker.
He does a lot more than "the very basic operations".
