As an exile, what I do not understand is why leave it until 9.30 of the day of the match to leave London. Even without delay this would have meant Dover would not have much of a warm up etc. immediately putting them at a disadvantage.

You would have thought with the fixture list coming out early, that would have given Dover enough time to book a Travelodge/Premier Inn which do not cost the earth. This then breaks the travel down for them. You can’t tell me that a part time football could not afford say £300 for ten rooms.

Whilst this does not detract from the sad event going forward it should cause clubs to consider how they travel to the extremities of the country both North and South.

From the outside this does not look like it was planned very well to say the least.

Just looked at my train planner. The 9.30 from Euston should arrive in Barrow at 13.05, but that is change at Lancaster with just 7 (seven!) minutes to catch the connection. I would never risk a connection with such a fine margin. Absolute madness to plan a journey like that!

To get the earlier 08.30 train they'd have had to have left Dover at 05.18, then hope that there were no delays into London Victoria or on the Underground, so I can see why they went for the later train. Risky, though. Next time, perhaps a coach and/or an overnight hotel stay?

They won't be able to get back from Barrow by train after a rearranged Tuesday night game.

05:46 from Dover arrived at St. Pancras one minute late at 06:55 according to the Realtime Trains website. It is then a 10 minute walk to Euston station, so from what I can see, there is absolutely no excuse for them not traveling on the 07:30 or 08:30 trains.

Had they been on the 08:30 train (which arrived at Lancaster on time at 10:55), they would have been in Barrow at 12:00

I find it ridiculous that Dover are commenting on their financial loss. What?---the price of some paltrey train tickets which they probably bought in advance at a reduced price.
How they will have the face to show up for the rearranged game I don't know. I'm betting it will be the team the manager and no Dover officials.
I hope we play them off the park and send them packing.

Thought many of their supporters arrived on a half empty coach and were already at the ground..... Also the team etc would be able to claim a refund on tickets as they had been delayed by more than x minutes?

Only a small number of Dover fans can't comprehend why we're annoyed - absolutely every other football fan in the country knows how stupid they've been.

It's annoying that some stupid little [SwearFilter] decided to message their player some abuse, because they're clinging onto that like it's a Barrow attitude problem.

I’m not sure that’s true Moribund; I’ve seen plenty of other teams fans condemning Barrow fans for being so annoyed at the game being off

As for the costs, they’ll receive a full refund on their train tickets anyway
