I.m someone who has despite the best efforts of Boris to close down my business just because he shit himself at the thought of 250k deaths and who has succeeded by increasing our turnover by 33% since the lockdown despite advertising and promotion being difficult if not impossible and it being one where physical interaction is what it's all about yet not one of our people or to the best of my knowledge any of our clients has had any virus issues. So I think I have a good insight into what a lot of people who are football fans think and that's that in the main this virus is something that people under 50 don't really have to worry about and should be left to get on with their lives and earning a living and the deaths and hospital admission figures completely back up that fact [ try looking up how many of the 40k deaths were white, u45-year-old males in none care professions with no existing ailments and not cohabiting with anyone in those or similar categories ] I believe you.ll find in fact that its about 1.5 %.

Now I don't mind debating or arguing the facts of the current situation with anyone but it does help if they have at least a basic understanding of what's actually going on and who doesn't get all their information and propaganda from Boris.s nightly 5pm laughter show. And your assertation that our military wouldn't have done a better job than Boris.s private company stitch up [ try looking up the one doing the school dinner vouchers and failing as badly as anyone could possibly fail ] and the fact that you don't seem to realise that just about every country around the world have deployed their military to a greater extent than we have proves that you don't fall into that category.

Who gets in?
Well, IF, this happens then it would be the same system that we’ve always used, 1250 tickets go on sale, first come first served (-season ticket holders). The club could probably stream the match as well

I doubt away fans would be given any tickets for any ground in the entire pyramid
You simply make it season ticket holders only

Which gives you two major plusses in that it both drives season ticket sales giving the club a large lump sum boost immediately and it also means that you have the name and address and seat number/standing position of everyone attending just in case a bit of track and trace was ever to be needed amongst those attending the game.

Good that the Tranmere proposal acknowledges "a clear leader" in the National League.

Meanwhile in replies to relevant posts on Twitter, that noted source of reasoned, intelligent conversation, the emphasis seems to have moved from Barrow should/shouldn't be promoted to the question of whether Harrogate will also be promoted.

If Barrow do go up, the club and supporters should be grateful to Neil Ardley for his frankness in his opinion on "the best team in the league" and repeating it in recent weeks. Truly sporting.
The Tranmere proposal states the following

The position enables promotion of one team from the National League. This is a practical solution to a situation where the National League has already terminated its season with a clear leader, and with no desire or ability to contest play-offs.

Weasel words like much of the rest of the proposal. If only the NL had acknowledged us as a clear leader and if only others had actually given up on play-offs, Tranmere's words would be true. But neither thing has happened and therefore these words are meaningless.

Very well crafted proposal, professionally speaking and hides its flaws pretty well. If I were the EFL I'd have passed it immediately to another professional for a detailed rebuttal. For what its worth I've picked up some vibes purporting to come from CEOs of two L1 clubs that suggest that the Tranmere proposal is unlikely to get the requisite support.

I see Notts County have announced a 24 man playing squad for possible play off matches. Wonder how many other NL side can announce even half that number for a play off fight? Maybe Harrogate

The FL have played a blinder here in that there's not a cat in a hells chance that any of the options other than their own will get the needed 51% and I wouldn't mind betting most chairmen gave up on Tranmere's proposal before they got as far as the second paragraph.

What a lot of people including some of the clubs submitting alternative proposals seem to have forgotten is this is about establishing a framework to go forward with and in other words a protocol that can be established for use in the future should the FL ever suffer a similar situation in the future and not a quick fix to get them over the current outstanding issues.

It may be wll crafted, SB, but it certainly doesn't hide its flaws. It's a ludicrous proposal and far too complicated even if it improves on the fairness of a straight or adjusted PPG which is debateable. IMO, it probably has the least chance of success than any of the amendments. As the CEO of Lincoln said when I heard him on the radio last night it is obviously crafted to ensure Tranmere are not relegated and,as he went on to say, is similar to almost all other of the amendments in that it is proposed purely out of self-interest which he did say was quite understandable.

Dont knock it Russ. I used to get very well paid for writing sh*t like that. I was simply admiring the ability of the writer to create such a weighty document from such a meagre one-sided source. But of course it isn't objective and is far too complex. When inserted into the EFL regulations it would probably be longer than the rest of the regs on promotion and relegation combined.

This is the danger. Selfishness. Know it alls. If you had the virus and it didn't affect you, bully for you, but what if you infected someone older and they died? If you were responsible, that's ok is it? Seems to me you don't get, or don't want to get the bigger picture. There are many many older people at Holker Street. This is way off thread, and I'm unlikely to post anything else about the virus.

Not selfish at all And Yes I do take pride in knowing it all on a subject that takes my interest. But i.m not sure why you think that I.ve already been infected because i.m pretty sure that I haven't.

I wouldn't really be bothered because to get infected that old person would have been ignoring the advice and being out and about to have been infected by me wouldn't they but i.m very interested to know how you think anyone could ever know who had actually infected them as i.m, not in the habit of visiting pensioners in their own homes. Same goes for being at the match if you're scared of it then lock yourself away and stay safe for the foreseeable future I don't have an issue with that but let the rest of us whos chances of catching it are minimal or even less of becoming seriously ill and virtually nil of dying get on with our lives, earning a living and getting the bloody country moving again.

Problem is you're backing a govt campaign that's utterly futile or can you tell me what their intended outcome is ? With no vaccine on the horizon, our only hope of beating the virus is herd immunity and by driving down the figures with all these stupid hair-brained schemes like masks and quarantine is just delaying achieving that But of course, you won't see Boris or any of them telling you why they're advocating this policy and what they see as the end game without a vaccine or are they really so stupid to think that the British people will put up with this crap for much longer.

But yes I do think you're right and you really should either open up your mind on the subject and stop listening to Boris.s propaganda and accept that there are alternative ways out of this or do as you say and stop posting on the subject.

Without quoting the very long posts going back & forth NORTHERNSOUL, I think you’ve missed a very valid point off Hitthebar22.

Interesting !
The Rotherham United CEO is also one of the sources who has been quoted as saying that the Tranmere proposal wont happen. Tony Stewart is what they might affectionately describe in South Yorkshire as a "straight talking bas*ard". Doesn't quite have the same poise and eloquence of Mark Palios (or his good lady wife). But makes his point nonetheless.

It also reflects the fact that most of the noise regarding next weeks proposals continues to come from L1. Not much detected either from the Championship or L2 - other than in respect of the Macclesfield "situation".
