But we could potentially get a big club in the league cup as championship sides are in it from the first round so could get Blackburn, Boro, Preston, sheff weds etc as its north and south sections so it's a game that could bring in a capacity crowd depending on what the capacity limits are allowed in OctoberGTBLUE wrote: ↑Fri Jul 24, 2020 8:20 pmLancaster Branch wrote: ↑Fri Jul 24, 2020 8:10 pm
Aye, I thought that. I don’t see why they couldn’t wait til Oct 1st so fans could be in the ground. Start on that Thursday, then play Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday etc until they’ve caught up.
Or until they are totally knackered !
Play the Rumbelows Cup opening round behind closed doors if needs be.
Maybe they’ve been tipped the wink that limited capacities will be allowed?

Re: Season start date
Great we have a start date.
The sports ground safety authority published the following regarding the reopening of sports grounds and the planning for social distancing required to reopen sports grounds.
I am sure the club will have received a copy this week.

Having asked the question of somebody whos pretty much in the know on the subject.Scrube wrote: ↑Fri Jul 24, 2020 6:00 pm Why start in September if fans can’t go? If fans can’t go till October, why not start then? We’ve waited long enough to start again, another month won’t make much difference. Are the govt or FA going to pay clubs the money they’ll lose playing behind closed doors? Don’t think so.
It appears its a case of its easier to announce BCD and then relax it to allow season ticket holders rather than say start with restricted crowds and then have to scrap it and start with no fans if things wernt quite right.
He also said a lot of things will fall into place when the FA make their announcement next week and to expect another announcement from the FL after that with a view to padding out the very basic information that was announced today.

Re: Season start date
2046 fans would be allowed in the stadium from 1st of October if the rumour of allowing 33% of the stadiums capacity assuming our capacity is 6200 which I'm sure the board mentioned

It all comes 'round again.
Re: Season start date
Ridiculous starting it so early if fans can't go. There's no reason why the end of the season has to be in early May in these exceptional circumstances.

Re: Season start date
League Cup starts the midweek before the league so 7-9th of September.
Also an interesting read from the Grimsby chairman about COVID testing costs, likely numbers allowed in etc.

Re: Season start date
If that's the case what grimsby chairman is saying then the league shouldn't of decided to start until fans can return at least 50% of capacity plus what if we get a team that would of brought in the crowds in the early games and the amount of money we will lose from lost revenue after reading that statement I now think its a poor idea to start the season behind closed doors as wasn't that the reason the season was finished early because of clubs couldn't survive without crowds so then why start a new season with no crowds think of the lost revenue say we get carlisle or morecambe or Bolton or Bradford or even Oldham an tranmere in the first few games or a big team in the league Cup yet the fans and the club will miss out even if they allow 20% of capacity in October that's only 1240 allowed in hardly worth bothering
