New Signings Rumours
Re: New Signings Rumours
We definitely have a starting 11 from the squad we have but that might change depending on who DD brings in as we really need another 7 players? But competition for places will make us a better team. I would like to see another goalkeeper, centre back, definitely a winger and a back up striker or 2.
Re: New Signings Rumours
Yep, which would mean the main gap in the side is either defensive midfield or centre back, depending on where Dunn sees Beadling playing.saltcellar wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 12:45 pmBeadling can also play centre back as well as a defensive or central midfielder.Moribund wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 9:48 am The only glaring gap in the first XI is a creative midfielder, although when Rooney left, Dunn said he was planning to play slightly different to Evatt in that respect. We might have two defensive midfielders (Jones and Beadling) with Hardcastle ahead of them in that case.
It's encouraging that we've already got a decent starting line-up with every position covered - it's just about strengthening one or two positions now.

Looking at the squad there are currently 14 on contract and it says 2 offered terms although my understanding is they are on trial. IMO, of those 16, 3 are definitely not good enough for the NL let alone Division 2 which leaves us with 13 players so we need another 7 players minimum and that's without any worries that a couple of the older guys can play at what will be a faster pace in the EFL.

I believe we are in for Roo’s replacement & I don’t know who but have been told it’s an exciting signing if we pull it off.Moribund wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 9:48 am The only glaring gap in the first XI is a creative midfielder, although when Rooney left, Dunn said he was planning to play slightly different to Evatt in that respect. Re: New Signings Rumours
I think Brown is fine as a back up utility player. He's played RWB, RCB, LCB, LWB this season and has had mixed success, but he can fill any defensive position if we're desperate.
He played RCB at Notts away and was very good in that game.
I agree on the other 2 though. I expect Penfield to be loaned out and Hindle not to be signed up.

If any club signs a few Very versatile players who excel in a few positions it can save on roster numbers, Helps to keep the squad happier as most are getting game time & pay the squad higher wages as yer saving on 1 or 2 player places, Looks like we are going down this avenue again.

Same! shame for edmo I think. I don’t believe he would have gotten us to the promised land but I do think he could have had more time and had he presided over the hornby/casson takeover he might have been a good head to have around the club. I also want to see us set up a proper academy of sorts and edmo fits the bill to run that for me too.

I agree, Brown worth keeping IMO.JammyBluebird wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 5:55 pmI think Brown is fine as a back up utility player. He's played RWB, RCB, LCB, LWB this season and has had mixed success, but he can fill any defensive position if we're desperate.

Also worth trying to keep a good chunk of the squad together, momentum and togetherness are important and you risk losing that with loads of outgoings.
