How come the rugby are allowed hundreds of people getting lashed on their pitch but we can't have hundreds in holker street spread out?

And also not allowed the 100s on the ground in a Sunday afertnoon for a game

Won`t be surprised if League 1/2 goes to PPG again this season so we must be well away from the bottom 2 while the matches are played. if fans are not allowed in before xmas the season won`t be finished and many clubs including us will be in danger of folding.

At least 2 will go bust, keep the fans money coming in and we'll be fine.

So why did the local health authority - not the government - pull the rest of the St. Leger meeting prompting the local mayor’s comments:

Doncaster mayor Ros Jones said the risk of holding the fixture with crowds was "too great" and welcomed the reversal.

"I believe holding the St Leger Festival behind closed doors is the right thing to do for the safety of the borough, given the latest change in Government's advice overnight and the increase in infection rates both in Doncaster and nationally," said the mayor.

"I welcome this decision and as I have said consistently that the risks were too great for Doncaster."

Difference is we wouldn’t let our club die. Keep buying merchandise, support Russ’s raffle etc etc. Keep the income streams going basically

Fans will be allowed back when people start behaving responsibly, and are not infecting others. That’s the simple equation. Those that think it’s over, those that think it won’t affect them if they catch it, those that just don’t care are the danger to us being allowed back in, and to many other important aspects of life currently denied to us. If everyone does their part the problem can be beaten. The “I know better” and/or “I don’t care” individuals are the danger to progress.

We shouldn't be over-confident about income streams. There's a big difference between raffle takings, shirt sales and other marginal income at present and the sort of takings which result from match day income with a crowd of, say, 3000.

The former are barely going to keep the C-19 testing going while season ticket sales, which will have been a welcome close-season boost, effectively become a debt with no games taking place with crowds.

Given all the Irish that attend annually it should have caused big numbers of infections there but numbers over the following weeks suggested not.

Similarly The Guardian appealed for six consecutive weeks for people who had attended big events before restrictions were introduced and subsequently contracted the virus to contact them, apparently without success although the Atletico Madrid match in Liverpool raised questions.

That just simply won't happen,we'll be back in October all being well with crowds capped at 1,000

Maybe, maybe not Stu, BUT one important factor here is those will most likely only be season ticket holders who have already paid for their tickets.

The club rely on "through the gate" money but that simply won't be allowed to happen if figures are capped at 1000.

Exactly, couldn't agree more. It's mostly in the 18-30yr bracket who obviously think "sod it", doesn't affect me. This affects everybody, just respect the rules & we can all get by & experience normal life to a certain extent.

Younger people will always act more casually and why shouldn't they? It's their time of life that is being "stolen" from them. In the second wave of Hong Kong flu in the 1960's , 80,000 people died of it in the UK, when the population was significantly lower than it is now. No lockdown, the disease faded and vaccines were developed years later. Covid seems little different if not less fatal and the age distribution for deaths in the flu was a bit worse for those under 50.

Additionally the sport is losing so many future fans who are not being exposed to the live game any longer.

Unfortunately due to the change from being allowed 2500 fans in to only being allowed 1000 Cambridge have had to cancel the trial event against Carlisle and revert to behind closed doors
