Saw the last half hour of match and that was not good.Quigley returns next match but won’t make a difference if the midfield are not creating more to get ball to him.Anyone can make mistake but the collapse of team effort and willingness to work for each other is not acceptable.Sorry the new lad injured cos think he is a good player. We are getting a lot of hamstring injuries is that a fault of tracing programme or the disruptive effect of short pre season.Agree with need others new midfield engine required and another striker.Still not convinced re hindle being in this squad. We started bad last year must be patient with new manager give more time and hope squad strengthens.Dont panic yet. Some of comments on here bit over dramatic plenty of games to go.

Problem is the signings we've made dont seem to have improved us that much James jones seems the best and when platt is fit is an upgrade on hird. mike jones is tidy but I wouldn't say better than tom white. Beadling isnt a patch on rooney questions have to ask why we sold him. Kgosi does look a good addition him and brough will tussle for that shirt. The rest jury out but if they cant get in the first 11 says a lot. I cant get my head around hindle re-signing his wages surely could be used elsewhere in the squad never good enough for league 2. Hopefully when platt brough kay and quigley comeback we will be more of a threat. Luke james works hard but isnt going to get the goals, angus is improving willing to stick with him. Desperately need another forward.
Not sure what hird is thinking most experienced player and cost us in each game, cant explain his cock up today it was awful.
We sold Rooney because he wanted to go....isn’t that obvious?

Yes the sensible thinking is lets see after 10 games, but its not as if we were unlucky to get beat today, we offered little second half and that is the concern, not the actual result. We need to get a win under our belts quickly.

Keep the faith people. Yes it's a shitty start but let's just see. I'm sure everyone at the club is thinking about how to improve on stuff.

Let's see what Gribbin is like after a consistent run of games in the team, you can't say he's stealing a wage based off one EFL trophy game and one substitute appearance.

One thing that Barrow fans are good at is writing off players quickly after a defeat. I remember people made the same comments about Ashley Grimes after 30 minutes of him chasing the ball that got punted over his head (yes I know he didn't do much for us but he had a decent career before that) .

Lots of over-reaction on here. I suspect many of the people shouting would have been saying how well we played if we were sitting here with a home win against Stevenage and an away draw against Newport which we would have had but for 2 individual mistakes by Sam Hird which were out of character even though we would have played no better. As other have said, the second half today was shocking and Newport were just as bad as us and never looked like scoring other than the gift we gave them.

The team will be far better when we get our injured players back No comparison between Kay and Brown. One is a huge attacking danger while the other is not and a better defender as well. No comparison between Quigley and James or Hindle. One has pace, control, finishing power, ability to hold the ball, the other two don't. No comparison with Platt and any of our other central defenders except James Jones. Ntlhe has proved to be a good signing but I would still take Brough over him but would be happy with either. Wilson also did nothing wrong today.

As most people have said, the real loss is Rooney. Whether we could have kept him or not is irrelevent but it should now be obvious to the people who came on and said that he wouldn't be missed just how much he controlled the play. Believe it or not, there was a reason he was voted the best player in the National League last season. Somehow we need a loan signing who has some of his ability to link play although I'd be amazed if we get anybody as good as he was last season. We also desperately need a decent loan striker.

Let's face it, finances must be very, very stretched and our signings must have been limited by our budget. I believe we've got an absolute gem in James Jones and a solid player in Mike Jones. Ntlhe looks another solid player and Wilson did nothing wrong today. Beadling looks a better central defender than he does a midfielder so I think we are well covered for defenders. Mike Jones will be solid but Biggins is still a bit of an unknown quantity and IMO Hardcastle is our only outstanding player at this level as the others don't compare with Rooney or even Tom White. In attack only Quigley is top level and only Angus of the others is good enough. We'll get plenty of points with our strongest team but will struggle when we get too many of our best players injured or suspended which is the case at the moment.

I think it’s clear to see that our starting 11 last year was far and above any 11 that has started so far this term and that some of the new lads do not look up to it.
We had the perfect storm last year with Rooney’s creativity, Quigley’s goals, and IE in charge. We also had very few injuries or suspensions all season and we started with the solid spine of the team in virtually every game.
The disappointment for us all is that if we had that team starting in league 2 then we would be a huge threat to anyone and would have fancied our chances of going up again.
Rooney and Evatt have gone - both by their own choice so there’s no point in dwelling on it any more. DD is unproven and needs time and we need to get back our injured lads such as Platt & Kay - If Platt had played the last 2 games we would probably have 4 points by now.

Not sure those mistakes are out of character for Hird - he was doing exactly the same at the start of last season too.

It's easy to say that it would've been a draw if Newport hadn't scored that chance, but I doubt they would've settled for 1-1. They sat on the lead the whole second half and drew us into their game of time wasting shenanigans, but they'd have no doubt got another goal if they needed it.

Possibly but they looked pretty short of attacking ideas to me. I can't think of a save Dixon had to make other than picking the ball out of the net for their two goals. Took a few crosses very well but that was about it.

Absolutely. The second half was frustrating due to being behind, but if the second goal hadn't happened it would have felt like a decent result regardless of performance.

I think though that we are playing the ball around too much at the back, and it cost the second goal. My heart was in my mouth several times during last week's match, it seemed like an accident waiting to happen and today it did.

I agree, but I put that down to the fact they didn't have to try after the 48th minute. Their wing backs were getting forward and their strikers seeing a lot of the ball - both things that we found impossible in the second half.

My biggest worry so far this season is Quigley and Rooney; nearly into October now and neither has scored so far
