Sad watching that unfold from a winning position. I have now seen enough to say I don't think he can change it. I think he has had enough time. Crawley weren't great and went in to the game only one point better off than us in last 6 form. We really needed to win and we couldn't.

Evatt was under contract as well.

Quigley said in an interview that he thinks we should have done more to try and keep Rooney.

Maybe Dunn just didn't rate him too highly. That would certainly match up with the poor judgement he has shown since.

One thing is for sure - there's no way Evatt would have let him go.

No fight in these players at the minute. There's worrying levels of similarity to the side Pennock inherited and somehow managed to guide to safety. Lightning won't strike twice though and that's the way we're heading.

Our build up is too slow, we lack pace, we have no creativity and we have forgotten how to defend. There isn't anything I think of that we are doing well apart from disappoint!!!

Our mentality compared to last season is just poles apart. I knew even at 2-1 up today we would lose that. We aren't getting the best out of the players who did the job last season and we have recruited poorly.

I can see why people would think that in today's game, but it wasn't dangerous, it wasn't two footed, it wasn't studs up. I'm prepared to be proved wrong on that but that's the way I saw it initially and in the only replay ifollow showed. Wins the ball, and their player makes a meal of the contact. Absolutely nothing wrong with it for me.

We could afford anyone if they are still out of work! Ha - if they want a job

I don't understand taking Kay off when chasing a game with 10 men, only to bring Biggins on again. He does nothing.
Biggins, Taylor C, Brough, Angus and Sea.
Those subs don't exactly scream attacking flair and goals when chasing a game. Especially if you take off the likes of Kay, Reid to bring them on.

A Jones and Hardcastle midfield would make a difference for us. Hopefully we can get them both back soon

Hardcastle was rotation for the 3rd central midfield player last season.

This season he seems to be the one we are relying on to come back, seemingly our best midfielder?

I have no idea who we could/would appoint as manager, that discussion is irrelevant at this stage.
The key thing now is that imho it’s time for him to go; I’ve been fairly tolerant but we just can’t keep losing these close games, something has to change and the problem is if it’s not Dunn himself can we really see him bringing in the players needed in Jan to change it?

I would say the first half of the season he was in rotation with Dyson. But definitely second half of season, he was almost always picked when fit

Spot on . Letting Rooney go , and hiring Dunn looks worse and worse as time goes by , I’m afraid.

How many times does it need saying that we did not LET Rooney go. He wanted to go for whatever reason.

And how many times does it need to be said that we have got absolutely nowhere near replacing him!

One thing is for sure - there's no way Evatt would have let him go.

What we don’t know is whether we offered him improved terms. If we did and he turned it down, then there is nothing we can do. But, if there was one player who it was crucial to try and keep hold of going into the football league it was him. We have lost all our creativity in the middle of the park and the links between attacks and defence have gone.
