Sweet talked into it by an agent! I hope that lesson has been learned.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 6:09 pmThats not correct. In an interview on Radio Cumbria Paul Hornby said that the board had agreed on a name to approach it was not David Dunn and the name was never revealed. Out of the blue Dunns agent got in touch with Barrow and said his client wanted to be considered for the job. The first name they had was never approached.bluessupporter wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 4:19 pm
Depends. It’s usual for candidates to apply and be interviewed, rather than headhunted.
Apparently there was nobody else looked at when we got Dunn.
Hopefully lessons have been learned.

Be happy with any of the top three in the betting but preference for Alexander.

Just hope we don’t rush into anything; if Kelly has to take charge of the next 3 games then so be it. Rather give us the best possible chance of getting it right, biggest decision in the clubs history

I mean he also took Stevenage to just outside the playoffs narrowly missing out. In my opinion and being realistic this is the type of standard we will attract and can i’d imagine afford.GazzaT wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 6:39 pmYes we need to get out of the current mess but still need to be looking longer term. No point employing an escape artist if that's his only trick.LewisBAFC1901 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 2:47 pm
Took Oldham from a 0.7 PPG to 1.3 PPG
Stevenage 0.8 to 1.5 PPG. It’s what we need to stay up at the end of the day.
GA isn’t going to come here and take anywhere near what he’ll have been on at Salford. And isn’t going to be attracted by this job in my opinion

I truly hope it’s not Dino. Passionate bloke and in my personal experiences with him a really nice guy but if he comes in we will be back here again in 12 months.
Re: New manager - Who do you want?
Maamria seems to be in The Sack Race's pockets - just have a google and see how many articles they've done on him! Hence the latest article reads like a glowing reference.
His League Two experience amounts to being partly responsible for Stevenage finishing bottom last season (described as being way out of his depth) and treading water with Oldham for the rest of the season.
Avoid.

Since the start of the season every player has being slagged off not up to league 2 on this forum, what difference will a new manager make when the players are rubbish, and what if the new man plays biggins how would that go down with the forum experts.

Some players react and play better under a new manager, who knows how they were told to play and what tactics they were given.behind the goals wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 7:17 pm Since the start of the season every player has being slagged off not up to league 2 on this forum, what difference will a new manager make when the players are rubbish, and what if the new man plays biggins how would that go down with the forum experts.
Clean slate for me under a new man for any that have [SwearFilter] me off this season.

Re: New manager - Who do you want?
Bookies favourites Flitcroft and Alexander have one thing going against them although they have done well in this division they have both had big budgets and it would remain to be seen if they could do as good a job on a tight budget
Re: New manager - Who do you want?
The CEO said in the Mail we are close to the salary cap limit (1.5million) so the big budget issue is not really as big an issue as it was.Broughton Fan wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 8:48 pm Bookies favourites Flitcroft and Alexander have one thing going against them although they have done well in this division they have both had big budgets and it would remain to be seen if they could do as good a job on a tight budget
Re: New manager - Who do you want?
We need someone with the same level of belief in Barrow and what he’s doing as Evatt had. The Manager has got to be someone who wont settle for mediocrity and gets rid of this “big step up for Barrow what do you expect” mindset that returned so quickly after promotion. The manager has got to get rid of this mentality and raise the bar. Then we might start winning some games.

BBC Radio Cumbria reported that Chairman Paul Hornby will be speaking about the current situation at the club before Tuesdays game. Programme begins at 6.00pm

An utter tool, will bring out the 'race card' everytime.Tommylad wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 8:16 pmMost people within the game know he's a complete tool.andyg wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 7:13 pm Firstly, why not Sol Campbell? He worked a minor miracle at Macclesfield the other season in keeping them up. I know for a fact he fully supported that team and scrapped his way to league security on the final day of the season. We need to get tough and scrap it out now.
However, I digress. Whoever is appointed it is the most important appointment for a long as I can remember as our football league status is at stake. The BOD cannot afford to make back to back poor appointments. I really hope they get it right.
Re: New manager - Who do you want?
Carlisle fan here.
Danny Grainger every time for me, got to know him when he was at CUFC, not surprised in the least he's doing so well at Reds, players listen, he is the one that 'gees' them up, gets them playing, and him being a Penrith/Appleby lad takes absolutely no prisoners.
If Beech was to leave the mighty Blues (hope not), then personally I would have little hesitation of giving him the United job.
