Club to go to cashless payments

Walk in off the street into Fanzone, buy ticket, scan at turnstile.

Not a deterrent.

Sounds like an absolute ball ache mate, definitely a deterrent for kids, especially if folk give their kids cash to go to the soccer.

Just needs proper planning before implementing that’s all.

Its not a ball ache at all. It couldn't be easier to buy an advance ticket for a match, the club place matchday tickets on general sale well in advance of a game, using links on all their media sites- facebook, official site, instagram. Even if you don't want to do that and somehow have no insight of how to get a ticket or just decide half an hour before kick off to go to a game its really not that difficult.

People have got to stop acting as if the club are setting some sort of mind boggling task or making it difficult to go. If you want to go, you’ll go. I cannot think for a second that someone who has decided to go to a game would be deterred from going based upon having to get a ticket in advance. Its just senseless, and who would be losing out?- yes the individual.

The real ball ache is shuffling forward very slowly in a queue at a turnstile whilst people pay cash. Tickets speed everything up and it is just a case of people getting used to it.

It was implemented in 2019/20 when we won the national league

You cannot have a system where at certain times and in certain locations you can pay cash but at other times you can't. The business either takes cash or it doesn't. If one fan gets turned away because either they are unaware of the policy or are unable to pay with anything other than cash then the policy has failed. You can not turn customers away.

You’ve completely ignored the kids element there, a business can’t just instantly remove a payment options/ methods to a key section of its customers.
Doesn’t make a difference to me personally but I want as many kids around HS on match day as possible even if other folk don’t.

Maybe we could go back to some sort of barter system? Not fully worked it out yet but maybe you could watch five minutes of the game for every square foot of wall you paint? Fit a new boiler for a season ticket? I know we don't need a new boiler, just riffing ideas.

Are you thick you still can not get in the ground on match days without a credit/debit card or buy a drink at either bar read what the club has said if you can read.

In addition, we will also take cash at the Club Shop and Ticket Office during normal business hours on Monday to Friday, so that match tickets can be purchased for cash in advance.

The Fan Zone and Cross Bar will continue with the plan to go cashless, as well as the Club Shop on matchdays.

We all know for 95% of folk buying a ticket before match day or with a card on match day is not an issue.

However it will be for the small amount of people who don't have a card or don't use one (kids and some elderly).

When I started going to the soccer at 14ish I'd decide on the days if I had some cash off parents and mates were going to head down, there may have been times I'd planned to go so could have got a pre paid I guess.
It's probably not a financial hit the 50 or so kids we'd alienate with this setup but we'll never know the long impact, those kids could turn into trust members, ST holders, volunteers, staff or even board members.
Yes other teams do it already in the FL but this is Barrow, we should be welcoming all with open arms not saying "this is how it is if you can't get a card with £50 on it you can't come".

No issues with card payments for tickets - it’s the common theme around most Football League clubs these days, something folk need to remember.

If you don’t like bringing your card with you, pay in advance and have the ticket printed out or on your phone. It’s not difficult.

Discrimination- I can’t do that on my Nokia 3310.

And some may not have a printer, or even a computer. So they have to queue once for a ticket, and then again at the turnstile. This is wrong regardless of whether you pay by cash or card.
