We are guilty of perpetuating the 'cul-de-sac' image ourselves, see the chairman's interview with Henry Winter in the Times.

It's a Barrow thing ... poor Barrow the town centre is dead ( so is every else's) nobody wants to come here.. we are doomed it's too far away from anywhere. A lot of people in Barrow have this kind of attitude.

Other people dont see it like that, people who properly visit the town know how good it is.

Your right... especially as people are now open to seeing different spots in the UK... Barrow has relatively short drive in terms of travel and with a train in and out of the peninsula were not too isolated. I’m sorry PH, you do come across as a natural, confident and transparent speaker, but for obvious marketing reasons, please consider not repeating lines such as Barrow’s at the end of a 40 mile cul de sac when in chats with the media

Agree with this. We've got to stop using this quip ourselves and I cringe when I hear it for exactly the reasons of it giving a negative perception. Why do we continuously refer to it?, as if anything good that happens must be an extra achievement because of where we are geographically. We are just over 2 hours from Manchester and Liverpool, 4.5 from London on the train. We are not on Mars and we need to rid ourselves of it. Town and club. Does Plymouth have the same issues? Carlisle, Inverness, Dover?

Always boiled my [SwearFilter] when folk slagged off the town and some locals are the worse for it. Don’t know how lucky we are living in this area and I would also include the rest of the coast up to Carlisle. Beautiful coast and countryside and compared to other areas in the country a fine place to raise a family.

My Mrs (Not from the area) has been nagging me to move back for a few years now, absolutely loves the place. I don’t buy into the narrative of the Furness location being at fault for not attracting players, as mentioned above the quality of family life up there is just as good as anywhere else in the country.

People that disagree are mostly people that have never left or lived away from barrow

When Barrow were last in the football league (and all previous years before that) I think all the Barrow players lived in the Barrow area.
Some moved with their families, others were either in digs or in club houses.
Many players did not leave the area after their playing careers ended.
Transport in and out of the Furness peninsula is a lot better than it was 50 years ago.
With finding suitable training facilities (certainly on a long term lease) difficult, why not consider seriously moving everything to the town?
