I am sure those who want to meet with mates will find a way to home in on each other. Put it this way, if my seat ends up smack in the middle of a group of mates who want to be together and sing and chant all game I’ll happily swap seats. So long as I’m in and we get the win, I’m not too precious about a seat I never chose.

Jesus wept you can tell whos never done an away in their life on here.
Folk will sit where they want and stand where they want as they have done at every away prior to this for as long as I’ve been going.
Don’t see why people are getting their back up about it when people will end up sat together and stood together with who they want to be. Not like this forum to be full of morons as per usual!

There does seem to be people on here who haven't been to many, if any, away games.

The only time I've sat in an allocated seat is when we visited Sunderland, Middlesbrough and at Wembley - both occasions.

I've always preferred standing. You can't beat the terrace.
Something the Premier League has noted with the introduction of Standing Zones next season at MUFC and Chelsea.
The only snag with the terrace was the pick pockets who would go 'dipping'. Happened to me twice - once in The Stretford End and once in The Holker End. Thank God I never visited Anfield - they'd have took my underpants!

The majority will arrive in the stadium about 15 mins before kick-off and will sit/stand wherever they want to - that's always been the case. My advice to the Away Newbies is get in early and get in your seats. But be prepared to stand - as most will.


Just hope the lad bringing the drum doesn't grab a seat next to Holkerbird!

Always look forward to watching Barrow play though this awayday clearly has an extra element for some reason.

My grandma and grandad on Mam's side 'emigrated' from up there to Barrow post-WW1 and have always looked out for their results and even watched them a few times at places like Barnet and Leyton Orient over the years.

The term 'derby' is pushing it, mind you. Travelling by road, the quickest route from Holker Street to Burnden Park is 85 miles. Putting that into some amusing context, the distance from Old Trafford to Villa Park is 86 miles! Some 'derby' that is. Travelling by train up the coast, the journey takes two and a half hours from Barrow. Admittedly, going via Lancaster, it is only a two hour stint on the Iron Road though tomorrow, my train from Euston will reach Preston in two hours and eight minutes.

That said, there has always been sporting rivalry between NW Lancashire and Cumberland in both football (Barrow and Workington in our league days) and rugby league (Barrow, Whitehaven, Workington Town) plus of course, in the local amateur game and in local cricket.

This one has definitely caught the imagination of the public though and it looks as if Carlisle will get its biggest league gate of the season. Nearly 1,700 Barrovians making the trek and plenty of Carlisle folk awaking from their club owner induced slumber and coming out to watch the game.

It should be a cracker and as long as everybody keeps their heads, both on and off the pitch, it should be a day to remember.
