Re: Club Statement - Phil Brown
Brown kept going on about the club having to have ambition before he would consider taking the post.
Ambition = money, something the board has already ploughed in in bucketfuls. Perhaps some of those buckets have holes in dear Liza. (A reference for older readers!)

Indeed. I'm just still worried about another "punt" on a coach/U-23 manager after Dunn.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Fri May 13, 2022 1:09 pm Blackpool have done ok with Neil Critchley who came from Liverpool U23s and Rob Edwards was plucked from England U16s to manage FGR now he has gone on to Watford

With the plug being pulled on the Academy and PB’s ‘done deal’ contract being withdrawn l am putting two and two together but hoping to get five.
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...

Or maybe the “done deal” that was mentioned on Saturday was just that; then Brown has moved the goalposts since and the board have sensibly withdrawn? Demanding more perhaps? Or something else?

Re: Club Statement - Phil Brown
You could be correct. Brown worked with Big Sam for many years so I'm sure during that time he will have picked many tips up on how to squeeze every last penny out of a club. Sam made a career out of it.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Fri May 13, 2022 4:10 pm Or maybe the “done deal” that was mentioned on Saturday was just that; then Brown has moved the goalposts since and the board have sensibly withdrawn? If he was interested purely in money I doubt he would have been anywhere near Barrow in the first place.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Fri May 13, 2022 4:19 pmYou could be correct. These managers into their 50.s who've played at a decent level and done a good bit of management are much more interested in staying on the roundabout and continuing to get their fix.
Try reading what Simpson up the roads been saying over the last couple of months literally wakes up with a sweat that it would be all over and he.d have to find a proper job. If the board up there had known all this I bet they could have got him for half what they did.
You can't tell me that if the likes of Phil Brown seriously put an agent to work he couldn't get a better much better-paid job abroad purely on the back of the fact that he.s managed in the PL and will have the likes of Big Sam amongst his referees.
Moving on to filling the position now that Browns out of the picture I wonder if MacDonald will apply on his own and if so would he be considered ? Seems to me he was very quiet during his time there not like the cocky loud bugger that I remember.
For me as appealing as the likes of Wild and few of the other non-leaguers might seem I don't think you can afford to take the chance and i.d say the same applies to the likes of Unsworth as well. I.d say you need someone whos been around the block [well maybe not quite as many times as Brown ]
And that takes me back once again to Keith Curle if you're looking for a manager who.ll keep you out of the bottom two he's your man. I.ve no idea where the bullying stories come from Yes if you're a player who takes the [SwearFilter] like Billy Paynter and his mates did he.ll give it back 10 times and if you've a chairman whos afraid to go toe to toe in an argument he.ll need a very strong office door and if you.ve a CEO who thinks he can take him on then get ready for the fireworks.
But if you want a manager who.ll move to live in the town, who.ll instil a pride in the place from the players, who will make the most of the facilities he.s given and will move mountains to improve them, who can spot a good player when he sees one and who plays a decent style of game then Curly Keith is your man.
For me, I think your biggest problem right now will be the players and their status while there's no manager in place to make the decisions that need urgently need making which for me means your gonna have to move with a bit more haste than you might normally have to if as has been suggested today it was Brown who decided to walk away and if that's the case and the club were confident they had their man they wouldn't in all reality been looking at other options they really and they will have their work cut out to get the new man installed within a week.

Re: Club Statement - Phil Brown
Chief Executive Officer. In other words, somebody who decides how the money is spent on behalf of the club with probably having already been given instructions of how much is available by the chairman.
This could have been the reason Phil Brown left, because the funds available weren,t enough for Phil Brown to take the club forward in the way he wanted.

Dont want to be just out of the bottom two though do we? Sounds like a lack of ambition to me that statement.M6 BLUE wrote: ↑Fri May 13, 2022 5:09 pmIf he was interested purely in money I doubt he would have been anywhere near Barrow in the first place.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Fri May 13, 2022 4:19 pm

Well i.ve not seen anybody on this thread talking about finding a manager to win you the league but plenty mentioning that avoiding relegation being the priority and start to build on.ant wrote: ↑Fri May 13, 2022 8:19 pmDont want to be just out of the bottom two though do we? I understand Jurgan is sat by the phone waiting for Hornbys call as we speak.
