Club Statement: Manager Appointment Update

The close season hasn't even started yet

Barrow's close season started about a month ago. I'm sure the club aren't waiting for the Champions League final to complete before getting going.

I still can't believe that Evatt left us after we got promoted.

Or Derek Adam’s would leave a newly promoted Morecambe to drop back down a league!

To be fair Evatt went to a "Premiership" club (in their imaginations) and Adams went to Bradford (they of the 15,000 home crowds). Managers are rarely emotionally invested in clubs. They go where there is the most money and potential. If Wild got Halifax promoted I honestly don't imagine he'd see Barrow as more of a lure than staying at the Shay. Not saying Wild is a bad choice, just saying for it to happen means they need to fail - and we need to wait around for that to happen (which if it doesn't means we're back at square 1).

You are absolutely correct, I knew when writing that, that’s what the answer would be (comparing Morecambe to Bradford or Barrow to Bolton, it’s obvious where a manager would go) but the point is we all know that there isn’t much loyalty in football and if we were to be offering more money to Wild than Halifax, and the club sell the package well….

I agree though that if it is Wild and we/he are waiting on the result of their play-offs then it’s a risky game.

Maybe if it is him he wants a new challenge, different surroundings. We need to get away from this little old Barrow mentality. We are a football league team near the bottom of the league that have just averaged 3000 .. there is huge growth potential.. we just need to start believing it

I'd say who ever we are bringing in will already be a done deal irrespective of what happens in a game next week

Evatt was being touted by his agent most of the season he got us promoted. Apparently agreed terms with Fylde halfway through the season, but decided to stay with us. Possibly our board offered more to keep him. Bloody pariah agents.

Whatever happened to Fylde's 5 year plan to get into the EFL? I wonder if they still have 2022 on the shirts. They might need another 5 years to get out of the National League North. Chumps.

Unfortunately more people from different regions are realizing what a wonderful area we live in. To many narrow minded folk focus on the town center and the Eggo . I could walk 15 mins in any direction and be in countryside or on a beach. We’re lucky to live in an area of natural beauty, boils my pee when Barrovians slag the town off but it says more about them they should get off their arses and look around. £160k on a nice semi in Barrow or Dalton is amazing value and quality of life for a family beats any city if you want relative low crime rates etc.

Totally agree, you get industrial sections, crime hotspots, vandalism, run down areas and poor town centres wherever you’d care to live.
The view is sort of understandable when you happen to be an away supporter and only here for a couple of hours and all you see is a long road with factories, not so understandable when you’re a local and you know what you can find within 15 minutes drive.
