Exactly. That game against Vale he was way out of his depth, a total mare.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 8:53 pmGlennon started off well but a few rash tackles resulted in some unnecessary bookings. At home to Port vale he was badly found out defensively and an absolute nightmare. After being subbed in that game I don’t think he started a game for the remainder of the season. Personally i wouldn’t want him backMisterPleasant wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 8:40 pm
He'd been at Grimsby once before. I thought he was pretty good, could stick a good ball into the box for someone like Bennett. I'd have welcomed him back.

Re: Players released by other clubs - who we might be interested in....
It wouldn't be a great surprise if either today or tomorrow we get a bit more movement on players;-
today (30th June) is the day EFL yearly contracts end - so the minimum i'd expect today or tomorrow is clarification on the contract offers to James Jones and the young keeper Scott Moloney. There's been whispers on here that Jones is going and Moloney staying - but nothing has been officially confirmed yet and as they'd be out of contract tomorrow that news won't be far away.
Similarly we might be waiting for contracts to expire at other clubs to announce new signings
IF Jones goes and Moloney stays that will be 9 out goings (plus 4 loanees returning) since the end of last season. 13 in total.
We have signed 7 so far and i would expect another 3-4 coming in - maybe a left back, 1 or 2 strikers and 1 or 2 midfield/utility players. That number could go up if we have players going out.
Who might leave? Ellis for one, Gordon or more likely James (too similar for both to stay i think) - both are harying hard working strikers rather than goalscorers, we need a back up who can score more than they can.

Think all three will leave and I would add White to the list. Not good enough.

Think White is on a healthy contract with us. I don't see him tearing it up to leave.Middleton Nick wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 11:03 am Who might leave? Would be a little surprised if Tom White left. He feels to me like a PW type of player. He also seems to feel quite comfortable at HS.

We'll wait and see. I was thinking if he didn't get much game time, he would be loaned out rather than leaving. My fault.

No. When he signed Grimsby fans were telling us how great he was……he wasn’t, he was just ok. Would have rather had Brough at left wing back, can’t remember which game it was but one of them Glennon had an absolute nightmare. Bound to pop up at the back post and score for them at Holker Street (as he did at Barnsley to be fair)AugustusCorpa wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 7:48 pmGrimsby fans are wetting themselves. Still can’t understand why we have James a new contract, get rid. Or why we’ve offered Jones another one, get rid. Ellis is past it, get ridMiddleton Nick wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 11:03 am Who might leave? If Gordon went I wouldn’t be bothered but also wouldn’t be bothered if he stays, he’s a useful squad option. And same goes for White

It was Port Vale - he was run ragged by an ageing David Worrall. To be fair to Phil Brown, he stuck Grayson on instead and he immediately calmed things down.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 1:31 pmNo. When he signed Grimsby fans were telling us how great he was……he wasn’t, he was just ok. Glennon wasn't seen again in the squad at all after that until a sub appearance on the final day.

Don’t think Glennon was as poor a prospect as some have suggested. Plus he’ll be a better player at Grimsby for having been with us last season. But I wouldn’t necessarily be turning cart wheels at his acquisition.
Interestingly from Hursts comments he signed Glennon without having seen him play. Shows perhaps that he is seen as bulking out the squad rather than a specific target.

Thought Glennon was OK for the 1st couple of games then dark cloud Cooper got to him. Like so many players last season they got worse under Cooper, even Platt wasn't exempt from this
Just say no to VAR
Re: Players released by other clubs - who we might be interested in....
That rat Cooper keeps getting mentioned.
Got to be one of the worst Managerial appointments we have made in recent times.
