It a good idea but you're talking a couple of million for such a development. We are spending £850k in to bring the ground up to EFL requirements that will cost the club £425k of their own cash.Money probably provided by the clubs owners in the form of loans .Jonty wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 6:39 pm The main stand could be extended with a block either end. These could be built as freestanding separate units and connected across the roof line and across the back with the stairwells in between the connecting units. Saw this done on a Scottish league ground with a similar central main stand that was extended either end. The end result looked like a completely new stand. If we did something like this it could include new turnstiles / facilities underneath etc. The centre of the main stand is still be there for development and this has been muted several times.
Never understood previous CEO shouts to pull it down and start again. Where is the benefit in that? This is the sort of development we should be aiming for.

Because if you buy a pre-fabricated structure that simply bolts onto a concrete pad similar to what Accrington did when/if you upgrade it has a resale value. A few cheap seats bolted on the existing crumbling terrace doesn't And sods law says the day you could sell those seats it will absolutely [SwearFilter] it down.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 9:51 pm Why go to the expense of putting a roof on the seats in the cross bar end.? We rarely fill the seats we have now in the main stand so they would rarely be used anyway. Plenty of clubs have uncovered searing. Stockport, Gillingham and Swindon spring to mind
Re: Extra Seating to be EFL compliant
It is. Most of the temporary stands were removed from the Alexander stadium within 3 weeks of the games finishing.Bingo wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 12:38 am I thought they were doing it properly but a temp seated stand was going in in the interim and then done in the summer. It would be nice to know what is happening.
The temp seats held up by commonwealth games and a shortage of plastic seats which sounded a load of nonsense to me
The massive amount of temporary seating used at Old Trafford won't be needed again till July next year.
So please no more bullshit that is easily seen through.

Because he was a very cheap/attractive option who to get the opportunity probably all but signed away his rights to anything above the absolute minimum compo should he get sacked meaning to the club giving him a 5 year contract carries very little risk for them and on the converse side he probably agreed to the club maximizing what they could get in compensation for him should a big club come callingMatty wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 11:52 amWhy would Wild be on a five year contract then if they weren't convinced we were going to stay up?32mile_cul-de-sac wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 10:15 am I've said it all along the club are waiting to see if we remain in the EFL before splashing the cash on ground improvements. No need for improvements if we get relegated. Stay up and it will all get done in the summer, be patient.

Managers are desperate to get back on the EFL merry-go-round. Don't forget it's less than 3 years ago that Carlisle had a manager it was reputed to have been working for not much more than just expenses and if you read Roddy Collins's book it wouldn't have been the first time.

M6 BLUE wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 10:36 pmAnd then you need to factor into the equation that there is no grant money available for uncovered seating, seats bolted onto existing terracing or for that matter temporary stands [ even if you buy rather than rent ] so whatever they are planning for the 850k it must include at least one permanant seated and covered structure to qualify for the grant money that the owner mentions.litefoot wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 4:04 pm
Swindon have a plan to put a roof over the Stratton Bank and even without a roof if we're in League 1 that would probably revert to being the full-time away stand again (or at least a regularly used overflow - anything more than about 750 away fans would need us to use it and there are a lot of L1 teams who would bring more than that).
Regarding a roof at the Crossbar End, it depends on what your long-term plans for the end and the ground as a whole are, particularly regarding the Main Stand.
Is the guy in America loaded or not? Andy Holt is a rich man but not by any stretch of the imagination a very rich man but he has been very clever in what he's done which from what i understand is that he set up a charitable foundation that gives him a tax benefit which in turn he gives to the club to carry out the various projects they've completed in the last 5 years in addition to his company sponsoring both the shirts and the stadium for sums said to be way above the going rate meaning the club has effectively refurbished the main stand, completely developed the grounds surrounding the stadium, replaced the gas, water and electricity supplies, installed new floodlights, built a new 1.5k stand and most recently built a 1.5 million pound hospitality/function facility not to mention the recently completed new changing rooms and staff office block with a pitchside viewing terrace.
If they can do all that without a massively rich benefactor throwing millions of pounds at it I see no reason whatsoever why Barrow cant.
Re: Extra Seating to be EFL compliant
Can someone remind me what it cost to put the new roof and seating in the HS end?
Re: Extra Seating to be EFL compliant
At this stage I think it would be nice to hear from the owners on this topic just to put peoples mind at rest. Surely there is a plan in place that isn’t top secret!

Pete wild wasn't a cheap option, he was a highly sought after manager with a year left on his contract at Halifax and lots of other clubs monitoring him. We paid compensation to get him in.M6 BLUE wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 10:10 pmBecause he was a very cheap/attractive option who to get the opportunity probably all but signed away his rights to anything above the absolute minimum compo should he get sacked meaning to the club giving him a 5 year contract carries very little risk for them and on the converse side he probably agreed to the club maximizing what they could get in compensation for him should a big club come calling
The board did fantastically, I am sure the club will have the efl requirements in hand, would just be nice to know what the plan is. (The money you would lose dropping out of the league is probably more than the cost of the extra seats)

Paul Hornby in a radio interview just after the start of the season said what the plan was. Seats in the crossbar end and the rest to meet EFL requirement of 2000 total seats in the away end. Work will be completed in the close season summer 2023 costing £850k fifty percent of cost made up of a grant the rest by the club

Re: Extra Seating to be EFL compliant
The good part of having an accountant running the club means he will be more aware than anyone the financial hit we will take in NOT doing this redevelopment!!
Demotion, Gaffer & Player contracts on L2 wages, Would be madness to chuck all that away never mind a fan base in uproar, Especially when these upgrades are half price (EFL Grants) So that should tell everyone that this WILL be happening, Otherwise may as well shut up shop.

Whilst that's what he said he also said that in the meantime some temporary seats were going into the away end corner. I'm sure it will all be in hand for the close season, I think the town has showed its backing for a football league side .. as I've said before any sniff at success and the fan base would outgrow the groundMain Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Mon Oct 31, 2022 11:50 amPaul Hornby in a radio interview just after the start of the season said what the plan was.
