Problem is no matter how much money we throw at it it will never be an EFL ground, and it can’t be redeveloped properly as it’s too enclosed. I do understand why people are reluctant to take the plunge but in my view the current stadium is a millstone around our necks, whilst it’s true to say that a new ground could also be classed as a millstone but at least one day it will be paid off and we’re left with a new stadium.

HS will be a money pit forever.

One final thought, Barrow Council are spending their levelling up money; £17.5m to be exact on a new Market Hall, that would have been a large chunk of any new stadium cost and arguably a better use of it, and with available grants on top of that we wouldn’t have had to find too much more for a pretty decent stadium that’s fit for the 21st century!

However the decision to continue with piecemeal improvements has been made and I sincerely hope it’s works out, simply I can’t bare the thought of falling back into non league and into another 48 years oblivion.

Building a new soulless stadium won't stop us falling into non league.

We need facilities that will help us generate cash. To build them, will take a big lump of said cash. We seem to moving out of the era of ultra low interest rates so it is getting more expensive to borrow but we need to do something - we can’t go on forever with a 3 sided ground and a main stand that covers so little of the length of the pitch.

Any other creative suggestions? Knock the Sports and Leisure down and turn it into a Castlemaine-dispensing contractor’s gulag for the Aussie shipyard lot? Floating stadium off Walney? New stadium on Ormsgill in a landswap for Holker Street so the kids that play on Ormsgill play on Holker Street?

Main Stand is correct. There is planning for 84 houses, However there is no company signed up to build them as yet. They are getting the site cleared in the hope they can attract someone to take it on.

It was reported last June that a company called Lancet Homes had agreed to purchase the site.

This time around, I'd estimate we'd need to reach around 75 points.

Losing to Harrogate killed off any lingering slight play off hopes. Just hopefully no more performances like Saturdays first half, and make sure we don’t let Carlisle turn up and roll us over

I cannot understand why you would build houses next to a football ground.In future if you wanted to put on pop concerts etc to generate money for the ground,you will get those future residents objecting about the noise.That area has always been industrial.A better use would have been as a car park for match days,because if the club manages to grow the support people will start to object about the number of cars on match days.
As a compromise if we were to build a new stadium in the future the old reservoir sight next to the existing reservoir is surely the best site as it is straight off the road into Barrow and there is plenty of room for expansion and is still roughly in the same area.
Having said all that it will probably remain a pipe dream until a rich benefactor comes along.
